Sorry to say, but I’m one of those not into fruit/flower scents: not for tack, not for shampoo, not for anything. Especially not for sunscreen: I hate to smell like a fruit salad on a hot and humid day. Herbal, citrus, woody scents are my favs, so I hope some of those will stay in the mix.
Frugalannie – I’m taking all suggestions into consideration, but am still trying to stick with the essential oils to create fragances. That takes many things such as a pina colada scent out of the equation.
I actually have a big stock of some green or woody scents, so I will play with those some more before making a decision.
But, keep the suggestions coming!
How about scent of hot LaMundial boot guy?
Oooohweeeee! Anyone get an Eqqus magazine yet for April?!!
HSLC is apparently in the section on new products! So exciting
Is pomegranate an option? I must be the only person on earth that detests coconut…

I detest coconut too! Pomegranate would be amazing, though.
I’m about to place my first order, so I’m yielding to the wisdom of COTH: Having not read all 66 pages here, do I want the soap and the balm or just the soap? I tend to be a little anal on tack cleaning, so most of my stuff is in good condition.
I have eyed this thread for a long time and I wish I had gotten a sample, but I didn’t have an leather tack at that time. Alas…
Now I have a gorgeous new to me saddle, fancy bridle and tall boots… so it is time to get me some balm and soap.

I detested coconut for a couple years after I got extremely drunk and then hungover on Malibu coconut rum. (I was well over 21 at the time, and it was the first and last time I’ve ever been drunk!)

Get both. My stuff is in good condition, probably more due to lack of use than diligent care, but that has not stopped me from accumulating a lot of soap and balm. A lot.
Yay!! You’ll love it!
Woohoo!
Ok, as to scent, at this point, I’m still trying to stay with combinations that I can do with essential oils. This leaves out a lot of options like coconut, apple, jasmine, or pomegranate. Unfortunately, I know the synthetic fragrance oils are used in people soap and in candles and in a lot of other things, but I haven’t had a chance to test how they will work in my soap, so I’m hesitant to go down that road yet.
But, if anyone else is wondering about the soap, check out this review from COTH’s own Nickelodian!!
The review is up here. And if you haven’t read the rest of her blog about showing at WEF and Gulfport, you should. Even for us eventers, it is really entertaining and informative and a great look into a showing world that is different than ours.
Enjoy! (Birthday/anniversary announcement of special soap coming next week!!)
I just bought some…well two soap and balm sets. I will probably by some of this new scent as well. I am kinda glad that the balm isn’t scented because than I would have to spend even more money.
Placed my order after finally burning my way through my sample from last year
Trying out rosemary mint this time.
Super excited for our limited edition Devon Horse Show soap!!!
The Special Edition scent for Devon is pretty yummy guys! But, you have to go to the show and buy it there!!
Keep your eyes peeled for the big anniversary announcement on Wednesday!!
How about a scent that will help deter bugs? I make my own fly spray using essential oils, and I usually use citronella, peppermint, eucalyptus… things like that. While you’re cleaning it may keep the bugs away, and if you used it to clean the leather halter and bridals it may keep bugs off the face?
I have really been enjoying my lavender vanilla set that a friend/fellow COTH’er got me for my birthday last year. As far as other scents, I tend to really like orange vanilla too (think creamsicle). I don’t mind my tack smelling like candy :lol

That’s a good idea. Would a citronella scent be possible? ANYTHING to deter the North Carolina gnats would be great!

I know I use a citronella essential oil for my fly spray, so I know it’s possible to get. Not sure if it’s something Bensmom would be interested in!

Super excited for our limited edition Devon Horse Show soap!!![/QUOTE]
Holy crap! I’m going to have to go to Devon just to buy the soap!!!
It’s Here!!!
We have officially been a Real Live Business for a year! I cannot thank all of you here on COTH enough – this has been a wild ride and I am so very grateful.
Our newest soap is only sort of a limited edition – the Confidence Blend is back, now named after Upstage, it is Woody’s Confidence Blend. He’s the super horse that started it all, and he deserves his own soap! We are thinking of making it a permanent addition – depending on what you guys think.
We’ve done a 20% off coupon for a birthday Sale-abration – 20% off all purchases on 4/9/2014.
Thanks again for all the feedback, and sharing – this has been so much fun!
