Bensmom saddle soap - the review thread (if that's okay with Bensmom)

YIKES! The tracking IS wonky. Shoot me a note and I will see if I can find it from my end . . .

For what it’s worth, I left my Viva Carlos (2 jars) in the car since it arrived about a month ago and it was completely fine when I popped it open today-- even though I’m sure it was 100+ in the car quite often since I forgot I chucked it in the back…

From FL to LA to VA.
It came today!!! I cleaned almost every piece of tack I own. I’m addicted and I want a jar of every scent! It’s super easy to use and I’m kind of excited at the thought that I might cleanu tack after every ride like I’m supposed to

I’m at work and my coworker was just scrubbing at her leather purse with paper towels, complaining that it was dirty. I was like, no no, don’t use that, I have something, let me run out to my car real quick. I grabbed a jar of Striker’s Vanilla Citrus soap and handed it to her. She promptly tried it out and was impressed at how well it worked (and, of course, how incredibly yummy it smells!). She said wanted to get some for cleaning her purses and shoes and such, so I’m selling her my gently used jar of Lavender Vanilla. (Sorry to steal a new customer, Bensmom, but I wasn’t sure she’d want to spend $21 including shipping for a jar of purse-and-shoe soap, plus I didn’t want her to change her mind in the time it took to find the website and place the order…)

Higher Standards Leather Care–It’s not just for horse people!

I love it!!

And, you have demonstrated over on H/J just recently how large your HSLC collection is!

So, we appreciate you sharing the addiction

Thanks for the reminder you can use it on all sorts of things. I’ve been waffling about ordering some (can’t decide on a scent!) but I don’t have much tack to clean ATM. But I do have some nice leather purses! And I almost exclusively buy leather shoes (man made ā€˜leather’ is so sweaty, ew) so I’m sure I can find plenty to have a good cleaning session with.

Back to pondering scents. I wish webpages could be scratch and sniff.

(Oh, also - for mostly boots/shoes/etc rather than tack - get the leather conditioner too, y/n?)

Bumping this to inquire…will there be a special scent anytime soon???

Please do another round of Starla’s Sugar & Spice!!! That is the most amazingly scrumptious scent in saddle soap history!
P.S. Will be checking in w/you soon–I haven’t forgotten about you, I promise! Any way I can get some of the Viva Carlos and/or Sugar & Spice in sample sizes?! That would be splendiferous!

Is last year’s Christmas soap making a comeback? I love it. And am now hoarding the bit that remains for the love seat and ottoman. Lol.

Hmm – I shall be checking with production and see whether we can do a Fall special scent for October! Sugar and Spice is really perfect for that

And we will have at least one, if not two, Christmas ones!

Higher Standards also redeems the failings of other inferior products.

In the spring I had put away my cool-weather leather fashion boots after wiping them down with some Horsemen’s One Step. (don’t judge, it was all I had in the house at the time!) I took them out yesterday to wear them for the first time since then, and they were COVERED in a gross white film from the Horsemen’s One Step To Ruin Your Leather. Ew!

I immediately grabbed my tub of Higher Standards and cleaned the boots, instantly removing the filmy white gunk. Never again will any other leather cleaner have a place in my house!

I can personally verify that you can let the jar sit in a hot or cold shed for at least six months…and it will be totally fine. I mean, my friend, uh, yeah, she can verify, yeah, that…

Also, any chance you will do another gift pack type deal? I would love to get a variety of smaller sizes.

Love, love, love the sugar and spice. And Libby, I was the one who called you a few months ago to ask if your soap and conditioner darkens light tack. I’m happy to report that they don’t.

We did gift packs for Christmas last year and they were popular!

They will probably return!

Awesome!

A barn near me had a yard sale this past weekend, and all the leftovers were put out by the road for free. I stopped this morning and pretty much grabbed anything leather. I now have a ton of random bits and pieces of tack in need of some TLC. Can’t wait to give it the HSLC treatment!

I am a high-end handbag aficionado and I recommend this often. It’s one of the few soaps that will clean expensive lambskin bags without stripping color or leaving the bag sticky.

Hey, Bensmom, I haven’t looked back over all the pages but how is the development of ā€˜people products’ coming?

I mean, cough cough, if you need a tester again . . .

I could be persuaded to be a people product tester too. My previous source for a super good moisturizer might be going away. Sad.

And now, a question. Higher Standards for moldy/musty leather, y/n? I have a couple of pairs of leather shoes that have been in storage and somehow they got all musty but they are good quality so I want to try to save them.
