Etonia State Forest is right there for riding. Come Friday, ride, spend the night, do the clinic, spend the night and ride Sunday before going home.

Bring lunch for you, hay for your horse, and plenty of water. Rain poncho is always wise at that time of year. Sunscreen, too.

Will have an in-ground water obstacle, dug with a tractor (oh, yes, for all of you who had problems at the AG Museum Challenge in 2010, this is for you!). Too fun. Love it.

Beginner to advanced obstacles. Equines of all ages and disciplines are welcome. Young animals need to lead and have ground manners.

Available at the Seahorse Ranch and Vineyard:

2 deluxe guest suites w/pvt bath/shower, fridges, microwave, coffee maker—one is queen, other double ($49 a night is current rate).

They have 4 RV/LQ hookups $25 night currently—thinking of adding more and have had up to 18 RVs ($15 night) before.

Generator okay but with a cut off time; tent camping is allowed.

There are 10 stalls for rent ($12 night) or participants can tie. Small grounds fee for day participants or those who tie out. Dogs ok if leashed/tied—owners must clean up after them.

Another wonderful place to camp and ride is the Florida Agricultural Museum in Palm Coast, FL, which connect to Princess Place Preserve, one of the premiere riding parks in Florida. Lots of Oak Hammocks, trails.

Exit off I-95 at Exit 298. Go south on US 1 for approx 1 miles. Just after you cross the Pellicer Creek bridge, get in left lane and turn on Old Kings Rd. You will see the Florida AG Museum entrance on the left. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, I believe. Paddocks and stalls available. Primitive camping for the most part, but they do have one or two hook ups for electric and water.

CHANGING Location of clinic and possibly date

The Seahorse Ranch and Vineyard is closing its doors permanently so I have to change venue.

Great location is the St. John’s County Fairgrounds, right off I-95 and CR 207 (St. Augustine, FL). I also want to change the date to April 2nd, which is better for me.

If anybody has any other suggestions, let me know. I’m open to them since it is still a ways off.

April 2-3 Bess Wall Trail Horse Obstacle Clinic–Palm City, FL

Replacing the April 16th is the Two-Day Bess Wall Trail Horse Desensitizing and Despooking Obstacle Clinic under the COVERED ARENA at Martin Downs Equestrian Center in Palm City, FL, straight down I-95 and directly off the interstate, a straight shot.

Clinic runs 9-4 each day with a one-hour lunch break.

See www.besswallobstacles.com for all the paperwork and information. This is a wonderful facility with nice big stalls for the horses and motels close by if you don’t want to stay in your trailer. If you do stay, there are elec and water hookups.

$135 per participant and each participant may bring two animals. Only one may be on the course at a time. Two people may share one animal, also, so if one gets tired, the other can work with it.

Helmets required for all participants.
