Best Affordable Breeches

Probably 100 threads on this but here is 101…

I currently ride only in TS but I have been finding them to wear out in the crotch part! Every time I try to sew them, they keep pulling apart. I guess I will need to patch them but I am worried about them rubbing where the patch is.

A group of us at the barn is in search for an awesome pair of schooling breech similiar to the TS (euroseat) that is affordable. I ride 5-6 days a week and need something to stand up to wear.

I have tried the SmartPak Pipers but they got this weird pulling in the butt of them and I returned them. Looking to spend around $100 or under (preferably under).

I love the material of the TS - I don’t prefer a thicker breech.
Any thoughts?

I really like the Pipers, but sounds like that didn’t work for you. I like Equine Couture a lot as well, they’re quite comfortable and I’ve gotten mine for around $75 a pair.

I like the Ovation Aqua X and the dover riders international woven, which are really similar to TS and like $50.

I recently bought some Elation brand breeches (ridingwarehouse sells them), and I am in love. I cannot speak on hardiness yet since I have not had them long, but they are so beautiful and comfortable and affordable I will undoubtedly be ordering more.

Check out Ovation. I got a pair of the Ovation Celebrity Slim Secret breeches on consignment for half off, and would have gladly spent full price. My favorite breech, need to get more!

You can sometimes find the Tredstep Rosas for sale around $100, and those are quite nice, very lightweight for summer. I’ve been very happy with how my Romfhs have worn, and the non-Serafina models of those are usually around $100. The Ovation Taylored breeches look a lot like TS, but in more of a Piper-y fabric, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them.

The regular Pipers pilled badly for me in the butt as well, and did this weird puckering thing right in the top part of the butt which was super attractive (not). However, I gave the knee patch Knit Pipers a try and they are now pretty much the only thing I wear. They’re stretchy but hold their shape and they wash beautifully, no pilling yet and I’ve had them for quite a while and wash them at least once a week. LOVE THEM. They’re usually $70 a pair as well.

The only other pair of breeches I own is a pair of the Romfh Sarafina’s that I found for $50 on a FB group brand new. I do like them a lot as well.

I like the Tredstep Hunter Classics - they fit just like the TS Trophy Hunters (mid-ish rise), similar fabric, cheaper price but only 2 colors. I also just bought the Horze Grand Prix breeches (the ones with a cotton mix) and really like them Can’t say how they hold up yet. They have a similar fit to the TS. I’m not a fan of cotton mix fabrics, but the price was right and they are comfortable.

Definitely the Ovation Tayloreds. I am admittedly, a breeches snob, and these I can stand. The Pipers don’t work for me and I love the fact that the Tayloreds are shaped to fit a waist and hips, no gapping in the back! They come in a few colors, the berry is really pretty and I get a lot of compliments when I wear them (jk - looks like tan and rust is all that’s available on the website I gave.) You can usually get them for steal on victorycanter.com - promo codes & free shipping over $50! They have the euroseat and a slightly higher rise than TS low rise, front or side zip.

They’re worth the try, especially for schooling.

I have a pair of Devonaire Signature breeches that are “supposedly” based on the TS TH breeches. I like them for the price. http://www.doversaddlery.com/signatu…ch/p/X1-35830/

I also have the Dover Riding Sport woven breeches that are very inexpensive and I think they look great for schooling. http://www.doversaddlery.com/riding-…h/p/X1-350099/ Slightly higher waisted, but on sale for 35.99! ACK. I may have to get another pair!!!

ETA, both of these are pretty similar to the material in the Trophy Hunters.

These are the Riding Sport ones I like and they are awesome for $36. I wish they made white because I would show in them if I could.

Equine Couture are very nice and only $89.

I’ve never been disappointed in ANYTHING I have bought from Ovation. They have really good products for the price. I show in the Ovation Taylored breeches and have several other styles for schooling.

I have never been able to make Pipers work for me until I bought a pair of the Piper silicone knee patch. They may be too blingy for your taste but they fit me better than any other Pipers and I like the material.

I love the ovation aqua x! I am going to have to try a pair on. How have you guys found the sizing is compared to TS. I take a 26 in TS.

If you get them, post a review! I’ve heard of them before and have been thinking of giving them a try

I would buy the same size you wear in TS.

Sorry, I quoted the wrong person. They’re very nice breeches and I really like mine.

I really like the Ovation “Tayloreds” already recommended with the caveat the fit is more like Ariat Pro Circuits then TS. If you like the fit of TS might not be your best option.

I second the Ovations and have loved every pair I bought! I also really love my TuffRiders (I know, hear me out!). The Element breeches have super grippy rubber knee patches and they wash unbelievably well. I’ve been full on sprayed with mud in them and they come out of the wash like new. They do run small though tbh.
