Best bang for buck for horse marketing

I know there are many "underground " Facebook groups for available horses but if you were to pay for an ad or looked at ads when shopping where did you do so? Dreamhorse done me well in the past but it just seems so dated! Looking at warmblood sales and horses4yc in particular. Horse is my first one of much value so I am willing to put some cash into getting the listing in front of a targeted audience without getting lost in the crazy number of horses posted on FB. I am looking into courtesy posting from the breed organization as well.

Though they seem dated, Dreamhorse and even more so Equinenow.com worked really well for me.

I got quite a few responses through Dreamhorse for the last horse I sold, August 2024. I did pictures and video. I ended up selling him to someone who’s agent contacted me through one of my hundreds of Facebook posts. I posted to all the appropriate groups (related disciplines, breed, size (small horse), state and regional equine sales pages), providing regular updates for free, just cost me sweat equity. I also advertised him on his breeder’s website which gave me some hits on him as well. I paid her 10% of the sale price (after he sold) because she was willing to answer questions from people who wanted to know more about dam/sire/siblings et al and I felt it appropriate. She offered to do it for free. I sold him within approximately 50 days of the first Facebook post/Dreamhorse ad listing. I had two parties come out to try him. The person who purchased him, neither she nor her agent came out to look at him. They purchased him based on knowledge/reputation of me, the breeder and a solid PPE. It all has worked out very well…I usually wouldn’t sell a horse already going under saddle without someone coming to see the horse but the agent was/is an acquaintance and had already paid quite a bit of money to try (fly out to see) 5 or 6 horses around the country, none panning out, and most not having PPE results that were satisfactory.
