Best barn boots?

I have small feet as well. Winter boots (and these were dedicated winter riding boots, not the super thick/bulky Bogs) and summer width 4.25" stirrups don’t mix.

I am size 5.5 / 6 in shoes and I don’t feel any different riding in the Bogs than in my Ariat Terrains. Actually just the other day I had to make an emergency dismount when my silly mare lost her mind on the trail and I didn’t want to endanger the other horses / riders in the party - no problem dismounting in a pinch from a prancing horse. And then, walking on the water-logged trail next to her was a breeze

But I think it’s a good PSA for people with “normal” feet - those bulky boots might not fit the stirrups.

Another fan of the Noble Outfitters. I have the taller ones like the link but also the short slip-on paddock type that are so comfortable I bought a back up pair for when these wear out. Before that I did Muck and Bogs but I really like the fit of the NOs for me. Helps when you can find them for really good sale prices like that Dover one.

I am so happy that link was posted :lol: My Bogs (which were a gift) are dying and I just can’t swallow the regular $100+ price tag on muck boots, but I am loathe to go back to uninsulated rubber boots. Hooray!

I’m on my second pair of N.O.'s, first pair got a slit at the spur rest/boot jack knob after 2 or so years. Like them but definitely do not pay full price!

Watch for sales! I paid 39.99 for my tall NOs through a Dover sale a friend alerted me to. I love them so. I’m not sure I’d ride in them, though. But I guess that depends on what you do when you ride. Walking around all day? Yessssssssss,

For riding, I’m in total love with my Ariat Frostbiters (that keep my feet warm through all weather) and a few years ago I purchased another lined but thinner profile Ariat waterproof boot.

Today I bought the N.O.'s Muds boots and I’m totally in love with them! Wore them around the house and didn’t want to take them off. Got them with an additional 20% discount (paid only $34!) at Dover. They fit my feet well and run true to size. My feet are wide and have a low instep and my heels don’t come up when I walk—they are snug enough to keep my feet in place but super easy to slip off. A bit clunky (won’t be taking stairs at a run) but flexible to make walking easy.

I’m all set for the messy storm coming tomorrow!

Can anyone with the N.O. Muds (tall) tell me if they’d fit wide calves? I’m about 15.5 inches around. I currently have some short Mucks, but I want some tall ones and Mucks are really pricey.

@DisraeliEars - I bought a pair last year on the Dover sale and had to return them because the calves were too small. I’m a size 9 with 16.5” calves. Dover or another retailer may be able to help you out with the measurements.

My calves are 12.5" and boot size 7.5. I can pinch a good inch of boot in that area. Since my legs are usually swimming in boots I find these a nice snug but not tight fit at the top. I’m assuming the larger the size the wider the boot. There may be some stretch as well.

Not sure if they make men’s boots in that style that may be wider. Though a lot of men have skinny lower legs.

I have a pair of Noble Outfitters that I’m OBSESSED with. I sized up but they still fit perfectly and are the most comfortable pair of boots I own.

I paid around $100 but they’re on sale at a lot of places right now! There are a few different colors it seems, mine are black with a dark plaid.

Noble Outfitters are very popular up here in the frigid north, but we can’t get them anymore. As well, I have small feet and even the size 6 are too big for me. I also find they are heavy.
I loved my Mudruckers too…had a couple of pair… so comfy… but can’t fine them here anymore.
I now have a pair of Bogs and love them. It’s only been 3 weeks, but so far they’re super. Lighter than the Noble and just as comfy as the Mudruckers.

Got the Noble boots today - I feel like these are going to be perfect for Fall/Winter foot wear! Maybe a tad heavy, but definitely seem warm enough. Thank you so much for all of the recommendations!

I live in Nevada,we get some snow, but it usually melts within 12-24 hours. I love my Sloggers! They are slip ons, I have a low-cut pair and a pair that comes up over the ankles, for muddy or snowy days. They aren’t cheap but I’ve had the slip-ons for more than a year and they show very minimal wear. My only “dislike” about the ankle-high ones is they have a tab above the heel to help you pull them on and it’s so short you can barely get a hold of it. Available on Amazon. I love getting presents from Amazonaclaus!
