I just took out my Arait field boots to start riding in them after this loooong winter and I’m really upset with the way they look! They were stored standing upright in a boot bag with the plastic Arait boot trees inside. They still collapsed at the ankle and the foot is pretty smooshed. I think because the boots are broken in and they’re wide calves that the boot tree isn’t enough to hold the shape. Are cedar trees better?
The biggest benefit of cedar trees is the moisture absorption and deodorizing properties. I use them in my stiff dressage boots, which are custom to my wide calves, but because of the stiff layers on the outside, I can’t even get my trees to open all the way!
I chose cedar mainly for the moisture absorption and deodorizing, but also because they are just really pretty to look at! I hate the look of plastic trees. My cedar trees have a beautiful knob on top, and the cedar has such a lovely grain. I did some price shopping and found that tack stores jack up the price of cedar trees, so I got the same exact ones for $20 less on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Woodlore-90217-000-00-Shapers/dp/B003GTLQJQ
Only cedar.
Cedar by far.

This!!! Cedar, all the way!!! Not only do they suck up moisture and deodorize, but they take it one step further and make your boots (and your closet) smell pretty!
