Can’t wait to see photos!
I just wrote a post on Facebook and pinned it to the top of my page on bridle fitting, good measurements to use and each of my sizes with the ranges they cover. This information on measuring will work with any bridle manufacturer and is the best way to measure when trying to determine best fit
Hope it helps those of you looking for a tutorial

My mare is going to be 12 in March and has yet to grow out of the “chewing on the reins” phase. We buy bougie bridles and cheap (not raised and not fancy stitched!) reins!!! LOL!
Ok I’m not very good at bridle photos (or tech/uploads) so I hope this works! I haven’t gotten out to the barn before dark this week, so no horse photos yet.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful!!!
I am trying to wait until after Christmas. This is making it very difficult. That is a beautiful bridle!
I’m being an enabler, BUT… friends & my trainer at the barn today were impressed by the leather quality and surprised that the price point was so reasonable. I have the plaited reins on my post-Xmas list to add to the set :).
A little update- I received my order which had a few of my unpadded Derby bridles in it. I oiled an anut one (my preferred color) and took it with me to a horse show yesterday. I had planned to get some great pictures of it since it was a beautiful winter day with sunshine and warm temps for my Pa climate. But…… my division ended up going at 8:30 at night so I got some basic shots and will plan a proper photo shoot after his next clip. I am loving how it looks
@Aaspen how long are your reins? I have a horse that is turning into a moose who needs mostly OS bridle parts (maybe horse cheek pieces) and OS reins. I want a show hunter noseband type bridle for him but one other company mentioned on this thread never responded to me about special order OS, and the company I usually buy from was such a nightmare to deal with my last order (sent me the wrong thing 3 times and took over 3 months to get bridle pieces), that I would love to go with your small business with such nice leather!
Happy to do a build a bridle for you and I am getting to the point with stock that if it’s only cheeks that need to be different there is no additional charge!
I have reins in 54” (cob) 57” (horse) and 60” Oversize. Happy to answer any other questions you may have. Here is my updated size chart that I am hoping is more user friendly than what I had before. I just updated with my new pony sizes.
Thank you! I’ll take some measurements
Does anyone have any recommendations for what to look for in a bridle for a horse with a small-ish head but huge blaze/tons of chrome? So it doesn’t really look all that small until you really look at him. He’s in horse/sized everything BUT cheek pieces. Would a wide noseband look funky on him?
I’m absolutely drooling over the Black Diamond bridles (gorgeous, a great price, plus I’m supporting a small business owned by a fellow rider?! I’m sold!), but I’m worried the wide noseband might shorten his face even more.
I have regular width nosebands too if others think that is the best
I have one left in a nut in stock and getting more in January. Here is a picture of my regular width noseband
That’s really pretty! I think I’ll go with this option when I order as my guys face is rather petite!
Our horse has a very dainty (hard to fit) head with a large snip and an unpadded, wide noseband looks great. I am planning on ordering a Black Diamond (because you can never have too many bridles, right?) when he comes back from rehab and I can measure him.
OOOOOHHHH. So excited that you have regular width nosebands! The wide noseband would overpower my TB mare’s head.
Just ordered a bridle from Amy at Black Diamond! She has been lovely to work with, super responsive and very detailed, going over all the available options. I’m so excited and can’t wait to receive it! New tack makes me very happy!
Hey! Me too! Sooooo responsive and answered all my questions. USPS says it’s on my porch as we speak so I cannot wait to get home and see it!
Well, my horse would say more hand grazing is more important, but the bridle is for his brother anyways
Lucky! I won’t get mine for a few days
