Best Brown Dressage Bridle

Hi! I’m looking for a dressage bridle in brown as I’m about to purchase my dream dressage saddle (that’s brown.) I’d like to stay beneath $400 and am looking for a nice padded and wide ergonomic crown piece, with a wide nose band. I also would just like to hear about some brands that you all like. I’ve read a similar thread but that person had different wants than I did, so I figured I could make my own.
I’m in the US, if that helps at all.
Thanks so much in advance!

So - I am a fan of Kavalcade bridles, have both a snaffle and double. They have one “Florina” which comes in brown. It does not have a wide crown, but worth looking.
PS Sweden makes a bunch of models of dressage bridles and it looks like you can get them in brown via “customize your order” Look at the Stockholm or the Flying Change models. I have not owned one so cant swear to quality.

Thank you! I’ve always liked PS of Sweden and didn’t realize you could customize the order, very good to know.

Solo Equine! They have two brown snaffle bridles. I only have their black bridles but they are gorgeous!

The brown Solo Equine bridles are gorgeous. Halter Ego has some nice ones, but I found the quality to be lacking (my rubber lined reins disintegrated & one side of the snap browband rusted & broke).

Check ooteman.nl, they have multiple. I have a Dyon bridle I really like! And, not expensive. The shipping is a bit more but you don’t pay VAT so….

They don’t have a lot of options in brown, but I quite like my Eponia bridle, especially now that it has been “broken in.”

Their Ginger model looks really pretty:

I have their Solo Maplewood bridle on my list now, thank you for the recommendation!

Very good to know, especially when I was considering spending 400+ dollars on one. Thank you!

Unfortunately I’m not a fan of the lighter brown color, as my new dressage saddle is a darker brown. Thanks so much, though! If I’m ever on the look for a nice black bridle I’ll definitely refer back to this.

That’s a beautiful horse!

Yes, I’m leaning towards this. Seems like I get the most bang for my buck with that, it’s a beautiful bridle and matches my saddle quite well

Love my PS of Sweden pioneer bridle in brown. I’ve got a dark brown dressage saddle and it matches nicely, also love the design for my horse with his odd shaped head. I could order the cob nose, pony cheeks, full brow and crown and it fits perfectly

Do you have this bridle? Never heard of the brand.

I can second that the Ginger bridle is stunning. I’ve owned mine now for five years now and spoken at length about it on the forum. I liked it so much I bought a second bridle (Violet Waters) from them for my other horse. Happy with both.

This photo is old, but here it is on my guy:

Here is an older gif I made of it, it makes it look much darker than it is in person:

Any time we go out with it, we always get compliments on it. It is downright beautiful in the sun but very understated in ambient light.

ETA - here is the Violet Waters Eponia bridle on my filly:

Coming back to say I saw this in a FB group. No personal experience with these bridle makers but made me think of this thread:

Ooh @beowulf, those sure are pretty! Although for the price of some of them, I would buy a Fairfax. Speaking of which, I think it’s…interesting…that on their “Technical” page they cite the Fairfax bridle study, which was of a very specific bridle design that their bridles don’t match at all.

There’s also no explanation of how this very standard-looking noseband design avoids pressure in any special way.

They are very pretty though!

I love the artistic touches but yeah, for the price might as well roll into Fairfax territory… Still have not convinced myself to go Fairfax - I want a lot more options before I do.

I wondered that about their headstall design. The browband and headstall is very interesting. No idea about how their design equates to similar relief as a Fairfax.

One thing I have wondered is if there is any virtue in having the browband design A. removable via buckles or stud mechanism from the crown piece (ie, a button/clasp on each side) or B. attached independent of the crown piece, like you see in Fairfax and some other brands. I have a rolled bridle that the browband only attaches to the bridle through the bit straps, and I have wondered before if that changes anything comfortwise for the horse.

If only they could talk!!

I have the Dyon bridle in brown, but I don’t see that one on their website in that color anymore so must have sold out.
Divoza Horseworld may have some brown bridles as well
