Any recommendations?
I’m a big fan of Sore No More.
I’ve used Sore No More on myself and haven’t really noticed anything. China-Gel on the other hand, made my shoulder go cold.
Biegoil always works for me. I use it after jump schools and xc. I use it on myself as well. Helps my hands and knees.
I have a spray bottle full of it at the barn and in the house.
For everyday I use wintergreen alchol and witch hazel mixed for a brace. Sometimes I cut it with veterolin. Or I use apple cider vinegar as a wash. Not cooling persay but makes the coat look nice.
I use Sore no more at FEI competitions and HTs as it doesnt test. I dont notice any tingling feeling when I use it though. It smells nice though. I like the poultice they make as well. Expensive but I won a tub of it and I like it. Will replace when that runs out.
The sore no more that I have (gelotion) does not seem to a cooling effect (I tried it on me to check).
I use the regular old blue mineral ice.
Sore no more at shows but I’m really not convinced it does anything.
Used Absorbine Botanicals at my “hippie barn” and was a pretty big fan. Wasn’t super cooling until the wind blew, and then it was icy on my hand. And it smelled amazing. And it was a free sample
I don’t think Sore No More is meant to be a cooling agent. The main ingredient, arnica, is a naturally occurring botanical that is supposed to be a circulatory agent. It’s good for dissipating bruises and painful muscles. Liniments, alcohol braces, etc. are evaporatives that help give that cooling sensation. Of course ice/cold hosing is the most effective, then the liniments, etc.
I liked Biegoil and like it okay. I’ve used some kind of Absorbine one in the past that I’m apparently allergic to. But, I can never remember which one it is, so the number of times I have given myself hives is disgusting -_- Been meaning to try Sore No More, I use arnica on myself all the time and can fully attest to it’s use!
I am a big fan of arnica so have used SoreNoMore. However, it does test at FEI, IIRC.

I think the effects of arnica seem to last longer than any straight liniment. I found this stuff from Valley Vet which would seem to reduce swelling and is relatively inexpensive. It seems to work well. The peppermint has a cooling effect.

I use Easy Willow Gel Liniment by Finish Line. It doesn’t have a tingle factor but that’s good for me and my horse. We have tried diluted vetrolin, diluted bigeloil and diluted absorbing and he cannot tolerate any of them. He actually bucked in the cross ties. Poor guy is sensitive. The a Easy Willow is more herbal and contains things like Arnica so it’s a better match for us. They also make an Easy Willow supplement you can feed after a hard workout as well. That’s been the best option for me.
