Best Equestrian Magazine (emphasis on jumping)?

I realise the irony of posting on COTH about other magazines, but if nothing else wondering what everyone’s favourite magazine subscriptions are with an emphasis on jumping. Dressage oriented is great too. Eventing mags?

Looking into getting a subscription to something and would love to hear what people are reading these days. Prefer a physical copy as I’m trying to avoid any additional screen time as I feel like I’m so often glued to one already!

way back the only thing I remember is Practical Horseman used to often have jumping articles but I can’t think of anything is jumping oriented. I’m not sure if Dressage Today is still around. There might be some good books out videos out there too.

I came in to also say Practical Horseman. There’s a monthly(?) feature with George Morris critiquing riders that’s great and I’m no jumper.

Thanks. Any English magazines in general that you prefer as well?

Practical Horseman has a lot of articles about jumping, some on dressage, and some on eventing… but I’d say overall lots of hunters and show jumpers. I just resubscribed a couple months ago and am happy to be back. There was a great deal… $17 for two years.

I found the horse magazines have so little good content in the last few years and it seemed to me to be the same topics just redone each year, so I cancelled my three horse magazine subscriptions (Practical Horseman, Horse Illustrated, Equus) a few years ago (except COTH) and put my money into http://www.equestriancoach.com/content/subscription-options

A bit more expensive but for me has been a much better investment.

I am a COTH subscriber, and also subscribe to HorseSport (kind of the Canadian COTH). If you are looking for something that has jumping exercises and other riding tips on a regular basis, I really prefer the British magazines like “Horse” and “Horse and Rider” to Practical Horseman and Dressage Today. More expensive to subscribe to though.

My favorite is the Chronicle but I also subscribe to physical copies of Horse & Hound (GB), Practical Horseman, Noelle Floyd, Sidelines, and pick up a few extras here and there (I’m a fast reader, lol). They all cover show jumping. Untacked is a great quarterly add-on included with my COTH subscription.

Of the non-COTH, I’d recommend them in the above order. Horse & Hound is an enjoyable read each week with fun regular features. Just keep in mind that it’s always from a British standpoint with a touch of European show reporting. But mostly British. For example, their post-WEG issue didn’t contain a segment on show jumping because their teams–they also report on Ireland–didn’t do well. 30+ pages on 3-day and dressage but no show jumping…

Practical Horseman has improved in recent years and its monthly training features and GM jumping clinic are always interesting. It’s not my first read if they all arrive on the same day. Noelle Floyd is a mix of international circuit lifestyle and rider / horse profiles anchored by lots of photos. It’s a Canadian coffee table magazine that arrives quarterly. Sidelines is similar with not as much of an artistic slant.

Practical Horseman is one that I found had a good range of articles from flatwork to jumping along with health related articles. Been enjoying what they have quite a bit and it’s all loading on my IOS devices so it makes it convenient because I don’t have to go pick up the newest edition every month or lose them if I want to reread an old one.
