Best Fleece Girth

Currently using a professional choice neoprene girth but still noticing some slight rubs (very thin haired pony). There are so many fleece girths out there.

Which are the best ones that most use in the show ring?

I just have the Dover fleece girth and it works well and washes up really nice.

I love my Smartpak brand fleece girths (there are a couple different styles and fleece thicknesses to choose from). Never had any rubs, even with my very thin-skinned TB. They are also nice and inexpensive, so when the fleece starts to get nasty beyond washing it doesn’t break my heart to toss them out

I really like the Ovation fuzzy girth that has a strip of wicking material on the horse side, aka Dry-Tex. It’s easier to get all the hair and sweat off : )

I have a few from Big Dee’s racing department. Fuzzy and cheap. And great colors …

I like the cheapy Kincade fleece girths. They’re washable, durable, and CHEAP. Like $25 max.

It has a metal ring in the middle you can attach a breastplate too, if you need to. The elastics stayed nice and haven’t worn out yet, and it has roller buckles on both ends.

Since he’s outgrowing everything I bought when I got him, I may ‘upgrade’ to the Lettia Coolmax girth or the SmartPak version of it at some point, but the Kincade ones are the best bang for your $$.

The Smartpak DriLex Fleece girth is great- fleece with the benefit of a cool-max type liner.

For schooling I use these: http://www.doversaddlery.com/toklat-contoured-synthetic-girth/p/X1-02175/?ids=z1otuwfpkgnrzo2oe3y5bozs
For showing I have liked my Edgewood with removeable fleece.

Me too and as the PP said, it’s cheap enough that when it starts to look beyond saving, it’s not heartbreaking to toss it!

I love my cheapie Smartpak fleece girths. I have several and they wash well.

My vote is for the Letitia Coolmax fleece girth - I used to get the cheapy Dover ones, but discovered pretty quickly that the buckles rust terribly after several washes. I actually prefer the Clik ones that have the spring loaded buckles, but they can be a bit harder to find. The couple I have are going strong after 18 months or so, and wash up well.

Have you considered a girth sock over a leather girth? The brown ones match the leather so you don’t have all that white fleece sticking out and they are so soft and comfy. Much easier to wash too, no buckles and less material to dry.
