What’s the best fly sheet in terms of breathability, durability, and coverage? Years ago I used the green fly sheet Rambos with attached neck and this is what I’m leaning towards. Some brands I’ve seen rip very easily or don’t allow good airflow. What are your favorites?
The Rambo Fly Protector. It’s SUCH a good sheet.
And look! On sale! (GREAT price, geez, do I need more? These sheets hold up so well, I’m not sure I do. But maybe…)

Ditto the Rambo Protector. They’re super durable, stay in place, fit well and provide excellent coverage.
Rambo Fly Buster.
It depends a bit on your exact situation. If I have a horse living out 24/7 I want one that doesn’t hold water, so I lean towards the nylon mesh sheets. Premier equine makes one (super lite), as does Schneider’s (mosquito mesh). I find them to be extremely breathable and a very tight weave so good protection as well. If the horse isn’t going to be getting rained on while wearing it you can consider other fabrics
I’m shopping for a new fly sheet too. I’ve been leaning towards the Rambo Fly Buster. I’ve also looked at the WeatherBeeta sheets but the reviews are more mixed than the Rambo.
I love the Rambo ones, but even better, I’m loving the Schneiders ones with the wither relief. As my Rambos die (after multiple seasons each) I’m replacing them with the Schneiders.
The Rambos are super durable but rubbed my daughters pony (he’s white so rubs are ugly). I have been loving my weatherbeeta Ripshield flysheets. 2 years going, no rips group turnout on one of them.
I’ve had good luck with the Schneider’s Dura Mesh.
Ooh nice! I snagged one of those this winter for my bigger horse. My smaller horse fits a 76" Schneider’s turnout perfectly and a 78" Weatherbeeta is a bit big. Any guesses if the 75 would fit her since they don’t have 78 available?
Following… I’m about to pull the pin on the rambo protector. My horse can’t handle the bugs - he turns squirrelly. We’re in southern Ontario and get hit with humidity, and I’m very concerned with him sweating underneath. Does anyone have any insight to the rambo in humid climates?
I have a couple of the Rambo Protectors and I love them! I’m also in S. Ontario and I don’t put them on if its over 30C and humid. They do sweat a lot under the shoulder and flank area I found. But they are the best fly sheets for my boys who are super rough on clothing. They have lasted me a couple of years with just some very minor repairs. Great sheets!
@outerbanks77 - They do fit a bit big. Very similar to WB. My ponies wear a 72" and I get a 69" in the Rambo’s and it fits perfectly
