Best girths for a girth sensitive horse (Not ulcers)

Hi, I’ve tried the Amerigo Protector, TSF girth, Kieffer neoprene, Professionals Choice, Tixerant girths and of all of them the tixerant is the one most tolerated but not perfect. Does anyone else have any ideas, I can try Fairfax but I tried a while a go and not the best fit now so expect won’t work. Anyone tried the Stubben Equisoft girth or any other ones I don’t know of? Thank you so much

I have not personally tried this, but wanted to give you an option to look into. This was designed by a local pro near me:

ETA - sorry, just realized I was in the Dressage forum, not H/J. I’m not sure if she makes a short girth but you could ask.

I have a few super sensitive horses in my barn. Had very good results from the stubben equisoft girth. Call VTO saddlery, I believe they are still offering a weeks demo for the girth. (Stubben is not offering this demo, VTO is. Doing this themselves, which I think is amazing, so we have bought all our births thru them! Amazing customer service)

You could try this one:

It’s Thinline, I bought one for a mare I had with terribly sensitive skin. I like the equalizer a lot–I know a lot of people find it annoying, but I feel like it’s more stable than elastic. It’s not fancy but it’s soft, flexible, and supposedly anti-fungal. It’s really easy to clean as well.

It really depends on what is making them sensitive. Some horses don’t like leather, some need a contour girth, others need a sheepskin lined girth. I have one horse who just wanted a plain old professional choice girth because she liked the “stickiness factor”. Sometimes it is better to start with what you tried and use the process of elimination to figure out the next thing to try.

I used to have a girth that was lined with wool felt that I used for 15 years. They don’t make them anymore except for a western saddle. I hate anything rubbery. So last year I ended up with a leather Albion. Alot of brands have them. Now days a good leather girth has butter soft leather against the horse. Not like the harder leather from years ago.
