My husband ordered me a set of replacement batteries for my head lamp–also available through amazon.
Lux Pro has a version that has red, green, and white lights (no flashing), tilts, and it is also 3 strap over the head. I don’t wear it much, it is my husbands but I find the horses do much better with red or green lights, as opposed to bright white.
I have a head lamp but the one I like best (I only need it in winter) is one on an LL Bean winter cap. It has lasted 2 seasons and was cheap enough I can chuck it or replace the batter.
Don’t mean to hijack, but anyone have suggestions for headlamps in cold weather. Maybe the ones I have are just no good but as soon as it is cold they quit working. They are battery ones from Costco.
I have the Petzl from LLBean. It tilts, has two brightness settings and after one year, I haven’t had to change the battery. Strong recommend.
I havent had the chance to go riding at night yet (just got my first horse in July!), but for chores,i lean towards the wballcap with built in LED- uses a 2032 button battery. I also used to wear this for running, pretty durable for my use.
for those who like the colored light (ie not bright white becuase it attracts bugs), have you considered adding a colored film or changing the lens? It would probably depend on the surface area of the light as to whether that’s feasible. (I’m probably thinking of my Dad’s military-issue flashlight that had different color lenses (red, blue, etc). Not sure if that would work in practice, but a thought…
I like the Petzl Tikka. Light weight and can get red light. My mare does not like white light. If I want to pet her in the dark it has to be red! Possibly because she is a chestnut
I use this one, not as a headlamp but it comes with a headband.
It also clips to your cap, collar or jacket pocket:

I keep mine in a pocket until I need it.
I also can hold it in my mouth easily.
It tilts to different angles.
Runs on three little AAA batteries.
For the price, that is a lot of light.
Be sure to get the brighter 315 lumen one.
The others are wimpier for outdoor chores.
