Best hoof boot for turnout?

I have a pair of Cavallo Simple Boots for my mare that are great for riding! Sometimes I end up needing them for turnout though (she’s got crappy feet, and sometimes needs the boots for additional protection when the ground is really hard). They end up rubbing her pasterns, which I can solve by putting men’s wool hunting socks on her. It’s kind of a pain in the butt to do that though!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience in what hoof boots are best for turnout. I need a boot that will NOT come off (I’ll never find them in the 8+ acre pasture she’s in!), but also won’t rub. The Cavallos have never come off, but the rubs can be a pain to deal with.

Is there a reason she can’t wear shoes?

I just got the Easy Boot Trails for my guy. The bare mud froze into a solid, rutted, jagged mess here in early January, and there was no way I was turning him out without some protection. LOVE them! SO easy to put on and they stay on. The company also sells “gaiters” which are excellent pastern wraps that prevent rubs. I had the Boa model from this company before and they were great for protection, but not nearly as easy to put on. Highly recommend the Easy Boot Trails! Just make sure you measure their feet very carefully and use the sizing chart.

Could she go a size down in the Cavallo Simple Boots? Mine were initially very difficult to put on, but I’ve turned out in them and they don’t move- at all, ever. I’ve never had a rub. If it’s not the sizing, maybe it’s just a difference in the hoof shape? Sorry, that’s probably not particularly helpful.
