Best hoof boots that stay in place for laminitic horse that . . .

is barefoot and getting turn out. Not soft rides which don’t stay in place for turn out.

And go . . . .

Thanks.

Just adding that the boots have to be extra comfy for a sore fitted horse.

I have had good results with using Cavallo Simple Boots or Cavallo Sport Boots for turnout.

I wore Boas by EasyCare on my foundered horse for several years for turnout, and made my own pads. Can’t say enough good about them for rehabbing but dumb EasyCare stopped making Boas a few years back.

i hve also worn EasyCare “Clouds” on that same horse for turnout. They come with pads and you can buy replacement pads for the Clouds. He did very well in those too but ------- when he was feeling better and got to Yahooing too much, they twisted.

Early on when he foundered, I tried Cavallos and they made him more sore, thus setting back the rehab time. Cavallos did not fit him correctly…

every horse’s hooves are different so it is crucial to find what fits your horse. It’s important to either send the correct pics to a hoof boot company for help, or have your farrier or vet help you.

best wishes in getting your horse back to pain-free/)

I use the Cavallo boots for the tbs that come out and can’t handle being barefoot. You must have the correct size or they come off. Wrap some vetrap around the pastern to prevent rubbing.

Someone gave me a link for jogging boots. http://eqfusion.com/. If the softrides won’t stay on Dex during turn out, I may try these and just make a custom pad.

I have a horse who was full time in an Easy Boot Rx for a couple weeks, turned out, and it was fantastic. There are a variety of pads you can get to use in them, so you can talk to the EB people about what would be appropriate.

Easy boot Clouds. They stay on my horses, even when turned out overnight. Correct sizing is crucial for any boot I use.

I bought Easyboot Clouds. They seem to be working really well so far!

My mare lives outside 24/7 and just spent a week in Old Macs G2 while fighting an abscess
http://www.easycareinc.com/our_boots/old_macs_g2/old_macs_g2.aspx

They are easy to put on and take off (although there is a weird strap in there that I cut off because it didn’t seem to do any good), and they stayed put through heavy mud and frolicking Tb mare.

My only complaints is that 1) her feet were constantly wet and got very soft (but that will be the case with any boot left on all day) and 2) they are clunky and I wouldn’t ride her with those.

I have ordered the tried and true original easy boot for her, which I can ride and even jump her in, no problem.

Oh, and I always wrap the foot in either duct tape or vetrap before putting boots on, so they stay on better.

Ive used equine fusion boots on two of my rescue minis, both with Cushings/IR/laminitis. I cut some EVA rubber to make soft inserts. They stayed on really well, I don’t think I ever had one come off, and they did really help with the lami issues but they did rub the heels of the smallest pony and I ended up going with Epona glue-ons with DIM, which are fantastic!
