I wanna know if there is a universal measurement sytems for sellers. When I was looking I went out to see horses that were posted at 17 hh+. When I get there Im lucky if they are 16.1
Do these people just assume anything over a pony must be 17h ?
And my other favorite…
needs intermediate rider = hang on for dear life!!!

quote:
For Sale - Two APHA Mayors, nice horses, bread back. $400 each.

This was obviously a phone-in and the person on the other end of the phone didn’t know diddley about horses or certainly brood mares.
If you go to the del Mar site, you will see something else about ol’ Similar ---- he has the same name as his granny. I guess that the owners just ran out of ideas…
That is the funniest thing I have seen in a long, long time!! Perfect for a Monday morning at work.
This has to be the BEST ad of the week

An 18 hand 3 year old unraced colt, suitable for jumping. They have already turned down $100,000, are asking $300,000, but will negotiate
PamM, regarding the turning down of the $100,000. We call that -
Where two fools met. One for OFFERING and the other for TURNING IT DOWN.
“The older I get, the better I used to be.”
One horse was advertised as having “stared over fences.” Guess they forgot the “t.”
…Is it wrong to kind of want that horse? He’s sort of cute, in a moose-ish way… Ironically enough, that’s the same site that listed the “fast maturing 2yo draft cross” that was already jumping 2’6-2’9…
Swift’s Injuries: 4 Major, 15 Minor, 9 XRays. Injuries to rider: 1
Saw one today that read: “… Would make great Jumper, Dressage or trail horse” Would he now? Might be under utilized as a trail horse, ya think, if he could be a jumper.
Another one read, “You could be buying your next winner” or you might not be.
Yet another: “Big DraftX will take you anywhere.” he wants to go, we’re not saying he has brakes. LOL
Finally: “Winner at the A’s. Sadly Outgrown $35,000.” But the money will ease our pain…

Wild Horses for sale: bay yearling colt, $500, and black yearling filly, $400. Gentle and kind
I particularly liked these lines in that ad:

quote:
Great conformation, calm disposition, although he is not gelded. A very intelligent animal, he likes to play and strut, acts like a stud.

Is it just me, or aren’t some of those statements just a tad mutually exclusive??
These are all very clever… or kinda sad, if you think about it! Here’s a recent one from our local newspaper. We live in a semi-rural, animal keeping community. It’s not for a horse, but for a ranch dog:
“Free to good home. German Shepard/Wolf hybrid mix. Good with kids and other dogs. NOT GOOD with chickens.”
I guess we know what happened there…
don’t you get it. They were being honest, it just stares over the fences they never said it would jump them. Unless you were trying to catch it? hehehe
