Best "horse for sale" ad of the day!

Just had to share this one, found on, ahem, “another” site:

Very handsome gelding that will make great hunter/event/dressage prospect. Has started under saddle but not been rode yet. He is well worth looking at. I don’t have time or interest in horse business any longer to continue. He must go.

So, I’m thinking: Is it this horse who has caused the person to bail on the horse business? And how can the beastie be started under saddle if he hasn’t been ridden yet? Like … he’s had one on his back one time?

I love these things!

Ah, reminds me of the old Monty Roberts line. Beezer and I worked for him many moons ago at the Hollywood Park sales for a few years. Anyway, I asked him why one of the stallions consigned in his barn had this official sounding notation at the top of his catalog page, “Being sold to dissolve a partnership.”

Monty: “Yeah. To dissolve a partnership between the owner and the horse.”

There was one recently in a magazine… “3 year old 12 year old pony mare.”

I was looking through the “Springfield Shopper” the other day and I found some real winners.

6y.o. Hanivarina mare. Ropes, Trail rides, dressage, jumping, barrel races.
What the heck is a Hanivarina? A cross between a Hanoverian and Purina? A deal at only $7500!!! Look at all the cool stuff she can do!

13.5hh 3yo pinto gilding. Broken but still spirited
I’ve always wanted a ‘gilding’ that was 13.5hh…he probably has three broken legs and is spirited when they try to touch him in his field

Some people shouldn’t be allowed to own horses…

Maybe they meant started “under the saddle”, changed his mind and ran he11 bent for election to the next county. Jumping many hedges(hunter trait), and high stepping with tail flagged (dressage trait) and was barely breathing hard (eventing trait), along his merry way.

I bet he was 16.5h too.

“The older I get, the better I used to be.”

And he’s relatively cheap.

I’m drooling.

OopzStud for Sale

I love the pony ad I saw once that had a wonderful description of the pony. Last line, however, read “stall a must” Translation: let this pony out in the pasture and you will NEVER catch the sucker!

If that moose-like horse is racing at Charlestown, he ain’t worth no $300k. Maybe they meant three hundred dollars?

But he is sort of cute in a drafty way.

Have to love these ads! Cactus, was actually a pony who stands 15.5. Child broke, never rid, etc…

Viney…that guy is realtively cheap, for a stud. Especially since it includes shipping. Wonder why?

That other ad cracked me up. Calm disposition…acts like a stud…something doesn’t seem to fit!

This must be one versatile dude! Grand Prix dressage, “A grade” jumping/eventing and even the world champs in Spain! Not bad for $15k!

Best featured american thoroughbred at R.I Ag show. 1st young horse ever qualified to world champs too many other quilfication to list! He is perfect, in every way very regretfull sale, owner going over sea. Dressage is Grand Prix, Jumpng and eventing in A grade. Is qualified for world champs in Spain, will take right rider to top easily. Excellent confirmation. Superb shoeing, vetting floating ect

Johnny Walker

I love those Moose-ers. And those big brown guys.

That I was just waiting for the perfect thread to post:

For Sale - Two APHA Mayors, nice horses, bread back. $400 each.

ACK!

Swift’s Injuries: 4 Major, 15 Minor, 9 XRays. Injuries to rider: 1

I love how the guy is giving 'ol Similar a little peck on the nose in the first pic…while holding a smoke, even.

Must be to show the big guy’s ‘calm,’ reflective side.

I remember this one from years ago-For Sale; Palomino mule. Mother is gorgeous double registered AQHA-Palomino multiple champion. Father sneaky swinging donkey from next door. Bet those neighbors needed Judge Wapner to settle that one.

MargaretF, I was thinking the exact same thing.

Delighted … I’m guessing that the next campaigns for those Mayors will be for governor someplace!! You’re right, that’s a priceless one.

I’d posted this one awhile ago on one of the other, ahem, California clique threads. But it’s so good it deserves reposting:

Nice, big mare. Suitable as broodmare or riding horse. Not broke. She does throw off some nice babies. I will be happy to send you a photo of her and the babies that she throws off.

I’m thinking that I have to get a look at this unbroke riding horse that throws off babies!!

That Similar horse looks like he lives in a real classy place…

Oh oh oh oh oh, a big Irish chestnut and a big moose - ooooooooh, stop me, I’m in heaven.
