Best horse info websites for newbies?

I’m just wondering what would be the best or most comprehensive websites where I can direct friends that need basic reliable advice particularly on care and health.

Also during a recent thread on hoof care JB linked to a recommended hoof care barefoot site, but I can’t find the thread again. Something with lots of anatomy and photos of hooves?

Suggestions?

The site I linked to was www.barefoothorse.com There are some anti-shoe comments there which I dislike, but it’s not overrun with them. There are many excellent hoof sites, but I find this one in particular is very easy to follow for newbies to learn parts, structure, what is good and why, what is bad and why, without being overwhelmed.

www.hopeforsoundness.com is another one, just one with many, many rabbit holes LOL

www.thehorse.com is maybe one of the best sites for what you’re looking for. It’s arranged by topics, you can search and find almost anything you want, and the articles are, more or less, written for the layperson, though some do get more technical.

There are other sites which tend to have reliable information, but The Horse is mostly where I direct people want to learn things in general.

Thanks! I’ve ended up on the horse.com often when some unfamiliar topic floats through COTH

Not a website, but I think the Washington state 4-h horse project manual - http://pubs.wsu.edu/ItemDetail.aspx?ProductID=14990&SeriesCode=&CategoryID=282&Keyword= - is a very good all-around resource for a family just starting out with horses. Not a huge amount of depth on any single topic but good basic information.
