Best horse vaccum?

Looking to get a horse vacuum for personal use on 1-2 horses. Currently considering the following two; has anyone had experience with either? Or is there a different one you would recommend. Would prefer to stay under the $500 mark. Thank you!

Back when I showed halter horses, everyone I know of just used a shop vac.

Our show team has 2 shop vacs from Home Depot. They get a lot of use and think they were either $39 or $49 each.

A normal home canister vac is quieter than a shop vac, not sure about suck strength! I would think it depends on how big and expensive the shop vac is.
I have used a household vacuum for years, bought a grooming vacuum head from Valley Vet for it ( Dr Smith, I think it was called). I recently found a Bissell ShedAway tool on ebay- it is like a shedding blade on a vacuum head. It is wonderful! Check ebay, there are a few there.

I have link #1. I tried with a shop vac first and the noise was insane (for me) even with a muffler on it. The metrovac has worked very well for me. One key thing I did was purchase the metal attachment only that goes to the Electrogroom. It fits fine on the Metro and is the best everyday tool. Far superior to the flat head attachments and durable.

I’ve used shop vacs on my ever-so-tolerant horse. Problem with them is that they’re plastic and the static they create is insane. Plus, loud and a little difficult to keep air flowing between horse and nozzle unless you keep your fingers in the way.

I’ve had a lot of experience with the Metro vac in your first link. It gets beat up, ignored, tossed around the tack room, and just keeps working. The suction decreases when the bag is overdue for a change out. But the one I use also has a fabric inner bag that catches much of what doesn’t fit in the paper/disposable bag. For the price, I love it.

See if you can find a used Electrogroom. They really are the best!

I have a metro vac. Not a fan. It was a gift and I rarely use it. Having to change the disposable bags is a chore. They don’t hold much.
”‹much.
I would totally recommend an Electrogroom. I’ve used them at farms where I was employed. They have a huge reusable dust bag and lots of power. Just the best.
