Best Insulated Buckets for Winter?

Due to the location of my horse’s buckets in his stall, I know I’m not going to be able to plug in a heated bucket this year.

I hear from other boarders that the BO leaves all the doors and windows open in the winter. My guy is a big drinker and I’m afraid his buckets are going to freeze.

Someone posted an insulated, non-electric bucket link one year - just can’t seem to find it - not even on the web.

Anyone have a favorite method of keeping buckets from freezing that aren’t plug-in?

I don’t know of any actual buckets that are insulated, but there’s bucket holders/covers like so:

And there’s also that new “bucket cozy”:

How cold does it get where you’re at? I’d be concerned about a horse going for most of the night without water.

I have to comment on the bucket cozy. After reading about it here I thought it was worth trying as my horses live outside with an auto. heated waterer, but there are times we bring them inside and need to use buckets, so I thought it looked like a good idea. . . but my horses must be particularly oral as they ripped them off ! Just a warning FYI.

I have two of these (not the same brand tho). The key to these is you have to add Hot water to start with. If you just fill 'em from the hose, they will still freeze. With the hot water, they’ll stay almost normal till morning…maybe just a little crust over.

I bought this one in 1996 and it is still going strong. It is fairly indestructible, and keeps hot water warm throughout the night. Even in very drafty barns the water remained open. I had to remove the floating styrafoam disc, as the horse wouldn’t drink from the bucket with it floating on the water. Didn’t make all that much difference in the performance.

I have 3 of the SmartPak bucket cozies:

They definitely help
