Best Leather Conditioner?

I’ve used Passier Lederbalsam for decades. Love it. If your tack is really dry, you can leave it to soak for a bit (like 30 min) and come back and do another coat.

Ko-Cho Line Leather Dressing

Best stuff ever

Amongst my collection of stuff I have a tube of Hammanol by Stubben that I l bought when I purchased my Stubben bridle. It is thick and so I put the tube in warm water to use, and it goes on well. But I would switch to Ben’s Mom’s
when I’ve used up my its and bobs - for no other reason than to support a member of COTH and go by the reviews…!

Ha - Ko-Cho Line - that stuff is as old as dirt and older than me …
but it is very rich and very greasy and when desperate times call for desperate measures it is the stuff to go to — but let it soak in for ages before using or it will attract even more dirt. I have an ancient tin of it. I still use it for the bends at the buckles of the reins and cheekpieces of my bridles.

I tried some of my trainer’s Hammanol on her ancient Stubben saddles… And it was awesome! But of course it still doesn’t work on my saddles. Sigh… Even if it did, I find it strange when the tack room smells like barbeque instead of normal tack-room-smell.

Anyways, thanks for all of your replies! I will most likely end up getting either the Passier Leder-Balsam or the Effax one, because those two are the ones that I have heard the most good things about. BUT if anyone knows of another one… I’d love to know!

It’s probably a very personal thing but I prefer Passier Lederbalsam over the Effax conditioner. To me, the Lederbalsam feels like it gives a more emmollient feel to the leather, vs the Effax, which feels more waxy to me.

Just my opinion, FWIW.
