A classic navy coat that best fits the rider?

YUP

A lot depends on your body type.

I’m partial to Equiline but that’s bc I have stupid long arms. I’ve had great luck with a navy RJ Classics coat I bought in a size up and tailored to fit me.

I have more hunt coats than I’d like to admit. My favorites, hands down, are my Horse Pilot coats. They’re the most flattering, and relatively inexpensive-ish ($400-ish, IIRC) and fully customizable here: https://custom.mon-cheval.com/config…omize-59-p.htm.

I have a navy one with purple trim: http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/PNWjumper/media/Facebook/2016%20Horseshows/FCS_8898_zps6bni03pf.jpg.html?sort=3&o=115
And a dark green with beige trim: http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/PNWjumper/media/Facebook/2016%20Horseshows/13418619_10154288290588408_5205764357831626584_o_zpszgegqibw.jpg.html?sort=3&o=187

The one that has been tailored to fit you. An inexpensive but well fitting jacket looks far better than an expensive jacket purchased second hand, and fits poorly.

Going to echo the above statements of one that fits best in a dark color.

Adding to this thread though, anyone have any experience finding a well-fitting jacket for a boxy-human? My chest, waist, and hip measurements are all the exact same number. I am 5’6 and am in search of a hunter green tech-material jacket. Willing to look at men’s as well as women’s. I have a size 18 RJ Classics jacket in Black (ladies) but it is big in the bust and hips and small in the waist. I also have very broad shoulders and longer than average arms for my height with a short torso.

Sounds as if you might have good luck with a men’s jacket. I don’t have any particular suggested brands for you, though.

It depends on your body type. My daughter has an Iago, which I love, but is too short in the arms for me. I have a Winston and Animo–both of which I love. I covet Equiline and Cavalerria Toscana but they don’t fit me.

OMG the custom horse pilot ones!!!

I have a very similar body type (except my arms are average length) and I absolutely loved the look of this jacket when I tried it on:

I ended up buying a women’s AA Motionlite (it’s a very dark green) because it was cheaper (found it on sale). The MotionLite is extremely breathable and fantastic on hot days. It’s a bit longer in the torso, but I find it still works for me. The really stretchy fabric is super comfortable too and adapts to the body.

If I showed more and something more traditional/tailored had been priority though, I would have splurged on the Tredstep Solo.
