I am considering selling my 2009 Antares saddle (purchased over 5 years ago and my figure has changed markedly). What do people find is the best way to go about selling? Go through saddle rep that I bought from? Consignment at tack shop? Facebook? Would consider a trade. Thanks!
I consign with Pelham saddlery. I just don’t want to deal with an online sale…
I sold outright to Highline/Fineline Tack. They also consign. Highly recommend.
I also recommend Highline Tack, they have buy-out, trade in or sell (18%) commission. Wonderful tack shop to work with!!!
I sell smaller/cheaper tack online, but for a saddle I’d go through a consignment shop or the rep. Their fee is worth it for having someone else deal with things like trials, collecting payment, etc. There’s just too much risk with online sales when it’s a multi-thousands of dollars item.
Bumping this thread up - has anyone sold a saddle to Highline or Fineline Tack? My last two dressage saddles are just sitting here (a 1970s Kieffer and a Frank Baines Elegance) and I don’t want to deal with eBay. I don’t know if either saddle would be “good enough” for them, though, and I don’t want to sell them for pennies.
I also could use recommendations on where to sell the rest of my tack - just cleaning out the trailer and finding way too much stuff. I had no idea I had all that stuff. How much money did I spend when I was still riding??!!! I don’t mind eBay (except the fees) and Craigslist is not my thing.
I have sold two saddles thru Highline/Fineline Tack. They are an excellent company to work with, both saddles sold quickly and I was paid immediately.
That said, from the Fineline tack consignment page (believe both of your saddles would be sold thru this site), " **Please note: We are currently not accepting dressage saddles valued below $2500 at the moment. If you’re not sure of your saddle’s value, please fill out the form below."
I have consigned several pieces of tack thru The Tried Equestrian, they have gotten things sold, you can also donate thru them.
I missed that on their page. Mine would definitely not meet that threshold. Thanks!
