Hi everyone!
I am currently using Cashel fly boots on my horses that seem the most irritated by the flies this season, and while the contoured shape is better than most, they still seem to slip down the legs. A friend recommended Tough One but I would love to hear other opinions. Which brands have you tried and liked that actually stay in place?
Many on here are huge fans of Shoofly leggins. Look weird but apparently they work great.
Yep, last year I became a Shoo-fly convert after trying Kensington and Cashel.
Yup, they look absolutely ridiculous, but mine are two years old, on a horse that destroyed probably ten other sets before I got these. They work, they stay up and stay on.
Agree - shoofly leggins!
Another vote for shoo-fly. They’re the only ones I trust to stay up and not bind.
I’ve used Kensington fly wraps for years and never had one slip. I’ve heard good things about Shoofly but never had a need to buy them because the Kensingtons worked so well.
Thanks everyone! Looks like I will be ordering Shoo-fly. Appreciate the comments! 😀
I just got a set of the Shoo Fly leggings for my gelding (he has a huge resection on one hoof for white line - seriously, I have a hard time imagining that the hoof wall will ever grow back  ). I didn’t want him stomping if we could avoid it and he’s been wearing them since the weekend. The do look ridiculous - but he definitely is keeping them on, not stomping much at all. I measured per a video but I think I could have gone down a size. But even a smidge too big, they work great! You just have to not care how silly they look, lol.
Reefy, thank you for your input! Sorry to hear about your horse. Having him wear fly boots during rehab is a great idea!
Then again, the “silly” looking horses are the ones standing there, not stomping flies. 🤷”♀ï¸
