North American, it’s American Pharoah. Internationally, I’d say Frankel.

Zenyatta is winning by a large margin with Chrome in 2nd. While I agree Zenyatta was a superstar she did her best running in the last decade. Apparently the Chromies have gotten a hold of the voting.
Is there really any question that AP was by far the best horse of the decade???
While I loved both Zenyatta and Chrome, American Pharoah got my vote.

Zenyatta and Chrome, can’t decide. AP if he had stayed around longer would then be tied with the other two. Wow what a non answer…:lol:

Well if we are just picking our favorites then Gun Runner.
However I think the best horse I saw this decade was Arrogate, who did not make the list.
American Pharoah was an easy pick for me, though Zenyatta certainly looks to win by a landslide. What that seems to prove is that connections matter more than accomplishments.
Well, no other horse this decade made my heart stop (or race) so many times as Zenyatta (and I have her print hanging on my wall) but American Pharaoh would be my vote.
It seems like each of the choices have been Horse of the Year in the last decade. Am I looking at that correctly?

AP just wasn’t around long enough to be considered the “best of the decade” for me.
Yeah, that was my thought as well. Zenyatta isn’t really a horse of the last decade, Chrome (while I like him fine) is clearly just getting his rabid fans. Of the choices offered, I have to go with Pharoah. The tough call was him and Wise Dan, not the two beating him in the poll.
I really think polls like these are hard because everyone uses a different measuring stick. I voted for AP because man I wanted to see a triple crown win in my lifetime. I also think he is an extremely nice horse. That being said, California Chrome has a place because he is a beast and in my uneducated opinion seemed to blossom late. He is an incredible horse. Zanyatta is equally amazing in her own right. I guess what I am saying in a round about way is those three are the best of the decade and it boils down to what measuring stick is one using.

You are correct. Which is why some really good horses (Arrogate, Shared Belief, etc.) aren’t on the list.
I guess that is also why Zenyatta shows up in this decade rather than the one before.
