BEST online horse game?

I’m looking for a fun online horse game to try out! I like games like sims 3 pets (build your barn, horse, character, ect) but pretty much grew weary of it after playing it for a very long time. I need something new in my life.

I’m looking for something that will let you walk around virtually, take care of your horse, and ride in competitions. I’ve kind of accepted the fact that I will never be able to get something that will literally let you do everything, especially in a free online game but hey I can dream too.

Seen a lot of games that will just let you take care of the horse or build a farm (kind of) in avirtualhorse.com. I really liked Riding Club Championships but the company have closed it down!

Anyone have any suggestions? What’s the best horse game in your opinion that’s free to play online?

Don’t know about free but I love Star Stable. You csn play intro levels free to see if you like it.

What ever you do, dont play howrse.

That game is going down hill fast, and it is rather dominated by groups, plus the moderation is noticeably corrupt and have been known to be able to buy off easily to go after other players for you.

Sad cause the game used to be really fun and enjoyable, breeding based game. Now there are money sucking promo’s near constant that seem to be the game focus now days.

I was a beta on howrse. God that was a long time ago. It didn’t have the groups or junk that RoyalRain42 says they have now. Pity, it was fun and I logged a lot of time in that game.

I played VHR back in 2005/6/7. The game has changed a lot since then I’m sure.

I like howrse  but it gets a bit boring after a while.

I started my account in… i think 09? not sure.

But totally different game now, Owlient has shut down all their other games but it. BUt even then, a game that used to have 2000+ active players is down to having a max of like 500 last time i was there.

Then like i said, money sucking extras that are constantly tossed down your throat, and the communities general hostility towards anyone else is rather harsh. The breeding side is repetitive to say the least, and getting to a good rank is hard unless you can work your way into the higher “Breeding teams” Plus no one really breeds anymore so much as plays on the promos.

I log in like once a week to talk to a few friends, then i leave.

Horse Eden is fun but very cut throat. You don’t get to directly play with the horse, but you have breeding, buying, selling, AI, culling (through free ranging), training, shows, federations, breed/sport clubs, and even International shows.

The game is very intricate (you have leader boards for best producing stallions, mares, best barns, best show barns, best riders, best dressage/eventing/jumping/X-country horse, best freshman/senior mare or stallion of whatever breed, etc) and there’s a lot of opportunity to make something out of your showing or breeding goals (there’s a system of quality in horses that you try to reach and quality breeding horses fetch big prices and stud fees)…

However, it requires a lot of forethought to create steady revenue (through having a show string of geldings) and getting good quality producing horses can be difficult.

But if you want the most accurate horse experience business wise, this game is excellent. There’s no instant gratification (it takes real months to build up your barn to get the cash revenue for a big breeding operation, you’ll end up culling a lot of foals, etc) but most of the players are adults and you can be very competitive, just like the real horse world.

I love it.

They also have real life color genetics, so you can either breed for show/sport, quality ratings, or rare color.

Ah, old times back to VHR! Even though you pretty much couldn’t do anything on that game, I still really enjoyed it at the time!

Yeah, it was pretty basic looking back on it haha!! Horse Eden sounds like a cool game.

It is hella cool but requires a lot of planning and money management, like a real breeding/sport facility. Definitely a game for adults. You even have to hire riders, pay them, buy or grow grass and grain, pay the vet for AI/straws, color genetic tests, pay for breeding approvals, etc.

It’s definitely the most realistic game out there. You can breed Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Appendix AQHA, Irish Sport Horses, Sport Horses, Irish Draughts, Sport Ponies, Anglo Arabians, and probably another one or two breeds I don’t remember.

The training/show world consists of Eventing, Dressage, Jumping, and Cross-country. All horses have born with certain traits for each event and get breed approvals depending on the rating (like a warmblood inspection rating). The show system is much like real life (the more training, the better show placing) and horses in time move up the levels and can reach Grand Prix.

There’s a lot of different avenues you can take with shows (regular, member, futurities, federation, etc) and that’s what I’m focusing in right now. I own 22 breeding stock horses and maybe around 28 show geldings in training and 15 show mares in training. Basically I use all my breeding culls for show horses. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ride!

It’s the best. You can do a free trial, but you ultimately have to download it from green frog it whatever for a few bucks to keep playing. It’s awesome and worth the couple dollars. Te trainer is quite arrogant, though. You can event, show jump, or do dressage. You have to get the right striding. You have to have good position. Without buying the old Lucinda Green game, it’s one of the best on the market.

There isn’t a part to much stalls and groom your horse or build a dream stable, but you coordinate his exercise schedule and days off.

I didn’t personally enjoy the game (too much emphasis on breeding for my liking)… but HorseWorldOnline lets you wander around a stable/pasture/community/etc area. Not quite the sims, but it isn’t a “flat” game like all the ones being suggested to you (meaning it is a website with links and not a 3d view… unless they have all changed recently).

Riding Club Championships closed down? Dang. I enjoyed that game. I think for a similar experience you’d be better off trying to find a downloadable version of PC games. Trust me, they are out there.

Does anyone remember horseland before it was all cartoonie and ridiculous? I have one of the highly sought after 6 digit account numbers. Miss that game. It went to crap when they turned it into a tv show and changed things around so much. Also with the changes came me losing millions of $$ in the game and all my horses. Guess that’s what happens when you don’t login for a few years. I can also thank the original horseland for giving me a quick education in HTML and photoshop for the horse photos!

Been searching for a time sucker like it ever since. Might have to try Horse Eden!

Horse Eden is worth investigating, but if you play, try reading one of the tutorials from the big players before getting too far away with it and spending all your money. There’s lots of assistance in the gaming forums.

Horseland did used to be fun, but yes, the tv destroyed it.

Howrse was okay. It got really repetitive and there wasn’t much variation between breeds and colors… the game was always trying to get into your wallet book.

I love some german thing where you jumped all these obstacles, just gallped along and had to learn to time your jumps. I forget what it was called and don’t know if its around any more. Wish I could find it again!

I was in the first couple hundred. Horseland and Hay!Land were huge two decades ago (near two decades for Hay!Land). I think it went down hill way before the TV show and my account definitely does not work anymore. Impressive it is still around and hey they are getting lots of $ so it can’t be said that they “ruined” it. Ruined it for the older players sure, but revamped it and sucked in a whole new generation

Horse Eden is honestly so much better. You can have goals (showing, breeding, color, etc) and it takes real time to get to where you want to be.

I have 66 horses and am thoroughly entertained. Most of them are home-bred warmbloods and thoroughbreds being trained and shown in eventing. My barn is small, so I only make a few thousand a night from shows.

After reading this, I thought I would checkout Horse Eden and I’m struggling lol. I think I may be way too impatient for this game and I’m also just about out of money already!!

My favorite game that has everything (except barn customization) that you’re looking for was the old PC game called Horse Illustrated Championship Season. I have a ripped copy on a CD from a friend in the early 2000’s. The graphics are pretty good for the age of the game. Someone had suggested downloading a PC game to get everything you want, so I figured I’d give you a recommendation. I’ve been trying to find a cheap PC or free online game similar to this one for years. I’m a BIG fan of gallop racer (PS3) and Sims 3, but I haven’t found a good online/phone game that compares. I may also have to check out Horse Eden.

Oh man…like I need any more time sucking things in my life!
But does anyone know of any games like these for Macs? Seems like all the fun stuff is for PC only :(. Why did I decide to buy a Mac??
