Best paddock boots for wide feet- Please help or I'm back to riding in sneakers!

The only ready-made traditional paddock boot that is wide enough for me is the Ariat Heritage round toe. In lace up. The zip ups are too tight in the arch. The bad thing is that I don’t like them. I find them quite uncomfortable for reasons totally unrelated to width. If I ride in them, I immediately remove them when I finish untacking and switch into my Redback barn boots.

For every day riding, I’ve got a pair of Ariat Terrains in wide width, which are comfy enough to wear all day.

I find it interesting that people are suggesting Ariat. I tried on all the Ariats at the tack store last time I shopped and none were wide enough.

I am going to look into some of the other options listed.

Every traditional style Ariat paddock boot except the Heritage RT is quite a bit too narrow for me, including the Heritage with the regular (more pointy) toe.

Don’t do regular Ariat Heritages or Cobalts. I have this problem because my feet are wide after having kids (they spread) and wearing Ariats cripples me, they smoosh the bones together and roll my pinky toe and the connected metatarsal bone under my foot. Which is not all that great for it.

I can’t say I have a good solution, I just wear something else and stick on the paddocks at the last second before getting on and pull them off as soon as I jump down.

Now my Monaco tall boots have a square toe and seem to have more room but I haven’t worn them for long periods of time yet so I am just hoping them won’t do the same thing. The toe box seemed better, though, much better than the Crowne Pros I had before (which were Mens but did the same squishy thing).

I will have to try the Round Toes next time!

Have you tried the Ariat round toe heritage zip paddocks? I have a bunion on my right foot and long/wide feet (10) and these are so comfy to me I wear nothing else.[/QUOTE]

The round toe (RT) makes a big difference!

I have yet to find an Ariat wide enough for me also. The last set of Mountain Horse paddocks I bought did the trick. Dehners: one day…

That is what I have right now.

I have the Ariat Barnyard jod boots that I bought for winter because they are waterproof. They are quite roomy (wide) and comfortable. I have an old pair of the Ariat Hanover paddock boots that had the square toe. They are wide as well. They’ve seen better days, but I can’t bring myself to get rid of them.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I talked with a Dover Saddlery rep and they suggested I special order the Ariat Heritage, which does come in a wide width if you special order. Unfortunately the wide width does not come with the round toe. So if the wide width isn’t comfy, I guess I could try the round toe next. The only problem is the wide width only is made up to size 9 and I normally wear a 9.5, but I guess I’ll try it.

Wish I could afford custom paddock boots, but that’s just not going to happen. And unfortunately I don’t live near any decent stores, so I can’t just try on a bunch of brands. Hate living in a non-horsey part of the country!

I have very wide feet.
For everyday, I ride in “Horse Shoes” by Roper. I’ve been using them for about 15 years (multiple pairs)

They LOOK more like hiking boots, but they ARE for riding.

I got my first set in a Western store, and when I need new ones I order them from one of the Western oriented catalogs.

I love them.

I don’t get how the wide sizes stop at 9 or 9.5. Like those of us with bigger feet aren’t going to have wider feet? How many size 6’s are wide? Same deal with jeans - curvy fit in a 6, but not a 14. Uh huh.

Mary’s Tack & feed has Dehner paddocks on eBay for $275:

It looks as though they do have a 9.5 C and they do have a return option.

Thanks - Janet ! I’m going to try these ‘Horse Shoes’ by Roper !

Thanks for this tip Janet … I’m going to try ‘Horse Shoes’ by Roper !

I am going to throw my Ariat Terrains (mens) size 9-ish (will double check when I get home) on eBay. They were worn maybe 5-6 times. I just didn’t …feel right…in my western stirrups with them. I don’t know how to describe it.

I’m thinking maybe $75?? If anyone here is interested before I do so, PM me.

Mods, please forgive me if this type of post is not allowed. Just want to give COTHers first crack at them.
