The chain link drag works great for grass paddocks, find some old chain link, a couple of landscape timbers and a rope, there you go. I drag mine behind my garden tractor as I mow. I typically drag over manure piles then go back on mow the roughs.
For a dry lot we use a toothed 4x4 drag, $279 @ TSC, Teeth down to level dirt, break up compressed spots and get wet spots to dry faster ( spreads the mud). We flip it over to smooth everything. This drag will rip out all your grass, fair warning.
I have also used an old inner spring mattress, burn to the frame, then same as the chain link, wood front and back but makes an ultra light drag that is kind to grass. Problem is burning a mattress is a smokey proposition and some municipalities or neighbors may complain. You also have to watch carefully that is not coming apart and leaving wires behind. I use my mattress drag only for newish grass that has a short root depth or in drought times.
