Best personal weather station?

I would like to buy a weather station. Mostly because I think they are cool. : )

I’m having trouble finding much opinion via consumer report sites.

I’m looking to spend about 100 bucks and want one with a fun wind thingy on it.

The one I’ve seen before is from Lowes.

what do you know?
Thanks!

Here is another:

We have this one, a simple version and love it. http://m.acurite.com/environment/weather-stations/acurite-digital-weather-station-with-forecast-temperature-atomic-clock-75077.html

The wind thing would be cool! Funny, even with technology right in our hands it’s fun to have an Acurite system in the kitchen.

We use the Walmart $100 one, that has wind sped and direction and all else in it.
It is the one a friend that is an aerospace engineer has and he recommended it for us:

I use this one:

Hee.

The forecast feature would be helpful, but it’s just as easy to click one button on the laptop. What would be nice is one that would tell me what the weather and wind prediction was for my pasture remotely while I was at work!

We also have an Acurite, although I’m not sure the exact model we have. My husband purchased it as an Amazon deal of the day; definitely one of their base models. Ours does wind speed and direction.

We love it. After 5 years, it has gotten buggy at times. We’ve had to drag out the ladder to unstick the rain gauge and adjust the fan. The alerts stopped working for my mobile account after a couple years no matter what I would do, but still work for my husband.

But regardless, I love being able to check the app from anywhere and know the weather on the farm. It’s nice peace of mind when I’m at work and I’m wondering if the horses are getting slammed by a storm, etc. It’s also made me realize how little the radar maps actually tell you about the weather conditions.

Davis. Highly accurate, very sturdy. Fast connection to Wunderground. Has you online in no time via their WeatherLink program.

I think we’ve been online for about 6 to 7 years with our weather station. Never had an issue - the station has been transmitting flawlessly. Has a solar panel to keep the battery charged. Been very happy with it. Just need to add a weather cam to it…one of these days.

Edited to add: Oops! Just noticed you said you’d like to buy one for $100. Forget the Davis then. Ours was $1,000. A bit over your budget.

Heads up that this older thread was bumped by a now-deleted spam post.

You’re welcome to continue posting, but the OP isn’t current.

Thanks!

We have this one: http://weatherwiseinstruments.com/wireless-weather-stations/ws1080-solar.html

we just look at the horses… if standing in the shade, it hot… if mane and tail are standing on ends its windy… if sunning themselves, its cool… if sunning themselves in a compact groups its cold then if butts are to the north the wind is from the north

smoke coming out of their nose…cold

cost is only about $10k per year in maintenance

I am using the Davis Vantage Pro 2. A very good unit. Been using it for 3 years. If you leaning toward the serious local weather tracking – this is the device. I has all the necessary sensors. VP2 integrates with all kinds of free software because it’s quite popular. The bad part – a bit expansive. You can get it for around 500$. If you are searching for something cheaper there are some models that cost less, but come with grate value – good sensors and software. This website has some of them listed: http://www.nwclimate.org/reviews/quality-weather-stations/

I have an ambient weather station, I think the WS-2902C, I love it I have it linked to the weatherundergroud and you can view the data on their website.
