Best pet insurance?

After spending close to $3000 on the last two month of my previous dog’s life in vet bills, my SO really wants to get insurance on our new dog. Since he is a puppy and EVERYTHING goes in his mouth, it is probably a good idea.

I am thinking about going through USAA since our house and car insurance is through them, but curious if anybody has any other suggestion. Mostly interested in how much is covered in your plan, and what you pay per month. USAA appears to go through Embrace Pet Insurance.

I use Healthy Paws. I have a $250 annual deductible, I have 90% reimbursement and the monthly cost is $45.50. So, you would have gotten 2,475 of that back by using them. It really is peace of mind.

Healthy Paws. I have a $500 deductible with 90% reimbursement for each of my rescue dogs. I pay about $60/month for both. Well worth the peace of mind!

I use Healthy Paws, mainly because their deductible is “per year” versus “per event.”

I have two insured with them…one has a $250 deductible/80% plan, the other has a $500 deductible/70% plan (it was all he was eligible for because of his age). The reimbursement does not include the initial “exam” cost, only procedures/surgeries, testing, and medications.

That said, I spent about $3k over the past 6 weeks on my Cushing’s boy (who is the one who caused me to get insurance on the other two), and had he been eligible for insurance (the only thing he qualified for because of his prior Cushing’s diagnosis was cancer coverage), I would’ve been eligible to have about $2500 of the 3k reimbursed at the percentage rate of coverage (IOW, $500 of the 3K was exam fees).

A friend of mine recommended Healthy Paws after spending nearly $11K trying to save her dog over a 2 month period.

I have Healthy Paws, $250 and 90%, currently $38/month for a 5-year-old pit bull (started her when she was 1). Went with them because of friends’ positive experiences and because they were (still are?) the only comany that would cover a second CCL tear. I haven’t had to use the policy, happily, and sometimes side-eye the amount that I’ve spent on it…but she’s a not especially well-built dog who hikes a lot in rough terrain and is not easy on herself. The couple of times she’s come up limping, the piece of mind of knowing my financial back was had if she was really hurt was more than worth it.

You wanted to ensure your pets were insured? LOL. I think this is spam so I’ll report it.
