I need to take the plunge and buy new boots. Are the Petrie Anky elegance as stiff as the Konig Grandgester? How do they fit compared to the Konigs? I’m considering them because they appear to be half the price of the Konigs from my local tack shop (quoted $1900 canadian tax included). Because nobody stocks petrie in my area (I’m not even sure if anyone in Canada stocks them) it needs to be somebody reliable. A good price on Konigs would be great too as I already know my size. Any tips on sizing and fit?
Wow, I just got quoted my Konigs and mine came in at $ 1,500.00. I am going with the Lady model with front zippers, snap tab at top and spur rest.
which model and options were you going for?
Bahr Saddlery has them listed: http://www.bahrsaddlery.com/sb-products.asp?productid=1707&category=147
I was given recent quote for the grandgester was 1800 CAN but that had some options like zippers etc. and incl. tax.

I have bought three pair from Kitty, she nails the sizing everytime (even for my 5.10, size 10 -mens, narrow calfed 16 year old).
The price is the best around. They take around 2-4 weeks from Germany to get to you.
petrie boots
I have bought mine through www.equinesource.com. Monique really knows her products and is also great with sizing. Oh…I have Petries. I love them. I have football player legs and I can wear a stock size. No more custom boots for me!!
This is the best price I can find on Konigs. Remember, if you are shipping to the US or Canada, you will not have to pay V.A.T.
While I have not purchased boots from this great place, I did buy an expensive rolled bridle that had to be custom assembled (full size browband and noseband, cob size everything else). They were great to work with and shipped very promptly!

I just went boot shoping, I was going to buy my 3rd pair of Konigs from Bahr, but just for fun I went surfing!

I know my size etc and I am a pretty standard fit, so went for a standard off the shelf Cavallo. My first pair and I like them just as much as my Konigs (actually they are more comfortable).
And I paid $238.70 Euros = $373.91 Canadian.
I will never pay tack store prices for boots again!
PS I received them in two weeks, by post, paid for by calevo! I also had reason to telephone them, and they have service in English.
I got my Petries from Dressage Extensions and it was a horrible experience and took them over 6 months!!!
I did however just buy lovely Konigs at Devon for…$500!!! Such a steal I am so excited to start breaking them in! :D:D:D
I second Bronte, I had FULL customs konig favorits with zippers and 3cm outsides for 500, shipped. They just arrived at the store yesterday and will be shipped to me any day know, I am soooo excited. But they have been a pleasure to deal with, I have done everything by email, and they respond promptly every time.
I purchased my Petries and various other items through Kitty at German Tack, she is very customer service oriented. When the euro is low I usually purchase at Calevo and find they are good if you know exactly what you want. They are not good at returning emails, but knowledgeable about their product line if you talk by phone (who wants to spend more money!)
eBay: Petrie 3000, almost new $200 plus $185 at Woody’s for zippers = $385
You can find both in Edmonton. Grandgester with zips are $1400 or $1500.
