Best place to order vaccines?

It’s been a while since I’ve ordered vaccines online. Who is your go to for a good price on the vaccines and reasonable shipping costs?

Thanks.

I like Valley Vet.

I just ordered from Farmvet after usually ordering from ValleyVet because it was significantly cheaper ordering the 10 counts ($270 vs $330 for the Fluvac 5 I think). However, Farmvet didn’t carry PHF+IMRab so had to get that one from ValleyVet

Thanks to you both. I was about to order from Valley Vet, but was put off a little by the shipping. I understand it’s special shipping, though! I forgot about FarmVet. I’m in middle TN, so maybe I could just go pick them up. Hmm.

Definitely pick them up if you can. I have no idea how valley vet typically packs their vaccines but the last time I ordered from them, they arrived warm and I had to ship it back.

I ended up ordering from Jeffers. I asked for 4 extra ice packs and my order arrived with the ice packs still frozen and the temp was about 35 degrees after being in a hot delivery truck all day. My house is about the last stop on the route as everything gets here late in the day.

I may have just gotten a poor employee at valley vet but last year one horse had a bad reaction to their vaccine and I can’t help wonder if it just didn’t stay cold enough during shipping.

Jeffers is the only place I know of that allows you to add the amount of ice you want as I would rather pay for extra. I don’t know what they would do if your vaccines arrived warm though? Would they refund?

Thanks 4horses. Definitely good advice. Maybe I won’t order from Valley. I think I may just have to go to FarmVet to pick them up. Local…but still an hour drive.

I used to be local to FarmVet, so local that I even picked up meds straight from their office.

I was loyal to them for years, even after I moved to MD.

But oddly, when I moved to my new farm 20 minutes east of my old farm, I learned they have a limit on how far they will ship vaccines. They now will not ship to me. :woman_shrugging:

So I use Valley Vet these days. I’ve never had an issue with them. Everything arrives quickly and cold.

I had a couple vaccine reactions this year which were a surprise, so I talked with my vet about it. She said that their reps have advised that vaccines that have gotten too cold may cause more reaction than vaccine that’s been kept closely to the proper window. Even just a period of chill can do it.

I thought that was super interesting since we worry a lot about too warm but not getting too cold.

I bought my vaccines from Santa Cruz this year, which was overall a fine experience (other than the unexpected reaction) … although they did send me a short dated tray of Lyme vax … which is pretty frustrating. :-/

I’ve been ordering from valley vet for 10+ years for my vaccinations. I’ve never had an issue with them arriving warm. Also, if you purchase over a certain amount the shipping is free.
If you have local tractor supply co, they also carry vaccines.

After making my reply about the cheaper pricing from FarmVet, I had to call them to see why my order hadn’t shipped yet, and it turns out they don’t keep the 10 dose vials in stock and had to order it from the manufacturer and then ship it, which was going to take about a week. So I ended up having to cancel that order and order from ValleyVet anyways!

I was thinking about TSC, but my local stores are ALWAYS out of stock for most items I need. Or they have one and I need 5. Plus, unfortunately they seem to be about 20.00 more per vaccine for what I’m looking for. Grr. Otherwise, they would be most convenient for me!

Thanks, again, all.

You could check Co-Op, too. I heard that some Co-Ops now even have a vet on staff… I cannot confirm nor deny that.

This is correct in TN. United Farm & Home Co-Op (serves a large chunk of middle TN) and Smoky Mountain Farmers Co-Op (upper-ish east TN) both now have veterinarians on staff.

Jeffers is my first choice, but since we share a state border it’s close shipping for me. I’ve been ordering from Jeffers since back in the day when we filled out the form in the back of the catalog and mailed a check in. They’ve never given me bad service and if they made a mistake they fixed it. Valley vet is good as well, just not close. I’ll keep farm vet in mind for future orders as well since that’s another shared border.

Thanks to you both. I didn’t realize that.
