Best place to sell a top hat?

I’ve realized today that I am ready to part with my top hat. My sidesaddle days are behind me and if I ever find myself riding sidesaddle again I think it will be with a helmet! I’ve got a top hat and two derbies that I am looking to sell, but outside of eBay, where am I most likely to appeal to buyers? Are people still looking for hats and derbies or are helmets the norm? Do you know of any hunting tack shops or organizations that offer consignment?

Thanks!

I know that there is a pretty active sidesaddle group on facebook where my trainer has sold several of her sidesaddles. That may be worth trying. I think I need to join if I’m ever going to find myself a decent sidesaddle!

Sidesaddle Riders! is a good place to sell, theres a sale section to the page.

It is a good group to join, but for that reason specifically, no, you don’t, I have lots.

I sold 2 on the foxhunting FB pages (and, you can pick them up fairly cheap on the dressage FB pages!)

FYI, dressage toppers are not the same as hunt toppers. Dressage toppers have a 4" crown (aka, short and squatty). Ladies’ silk hunt toppers should be 4.5-5.5", and mens’ should be 6-6.5".

I just browsed your website and I’m drooling! It’s a real shame I don’t have $4500 sitting around waiting to be spent on a gorges Hermes sidesaddle…

Sold ours to the local college props and costume department…

Is steampunk still in style? Or Dr. Who? My son also does Victorian re-enactment, so there is another market. (He was disappointed that he couldn’t fit into my top hat and had to buy a gentleman’s tall one.)
