Best Place to Sell Devoucoux Monoflap

I am in Ontario, Canada and am having a heck of a time trying to figure out where to sell my saddle. It will be replaced by a double flap close contact saddle (high end brand) so a place that would do an exchange would be ideal.

Where do you guys have the best experience selling from/with?

TIA!

ebay

Since you are in Ontario, have you tried the running fox? I have heard they are excellent to work with

I don’t know of any place that will give you a one for one exchange - most places that take in used saddles on a trade in will only give you a small percentage of what you could actually sell it for.

If you are looking to sell yours on consignment, I’d use Cori McGraw on highendusedsaddles.com. I’ve been using her for years to sell my used saddles, and she has a high turnover rate (and a high success rate) and reasonable commission. Love her, and she’s wonderful to work with.

I need another devoucoux monoflap, but don’t have the money atm

Usedsaddles.ca

she takes the same commission on all saddles, $200. Best to sell there.

Most tack stores will not trade. Sprucewood told me they would when I was buying my new dressage saddle, once the sale had been made, they decided not to take my saddle for a trade. It was a no name low end saddle.

Most placed will charge 25% commission. Usedsaddles.ca sounds like the best deal. Plus she handles all trials and exchanges for you. Super easy.

Selling on your own, I sold mine within a few days on Facebook, posted in about 6 different groups though.

I doubt you will get a straight trade, I would NOT go to Bakers. They require a boutique type of style now. You MUST have an appointment so he can tell you that you have no money and can’t afford his tack. Plus he will tell you what fits your horse without seeing the saddle on the horse. Its rather disturbing. People who are looking for saddles are not going to him because its become a hassle. I would prefer to be able to look on my own and decide from there going forward. He’s losing business this way, and your saddle would just sit. Plus the mark up would be insane and probably not sell.

Bahrs has a great saddle selection, not sure of their commission percentage though.

Kijiji never fails though. I don’t know ebay, but its been good to me when I buy things.

I’ve sold on Facebook but have also had good luck listing on:

horseclicks
equinenow
tacktrader.com
Warmbloods-for-sale.com has a good tack section of higher-end saddles.
There’s also highendusedsaddles.com and such.

Lots of places online you can post a listing. Could also send it to places like Farmhouse Tack, Pelham Saddlery and Bucks County Saddlery to be sold on consignment.

There are a couple of good groups on Facebook (English Tack Trader; English Saddles for Sale, etc.), however, I get more low-ball offers from peeps on Facebook.

What groups on Facebook did you post it on? I have it on a couple and don’t have very much interest.

I only know that my husband sold a devoucoux chiberta last year on ebay and it worked out very well. I think it took him some weeks and he had to answer a lot of questions and take a lot of pictures, but he got the money he wanted

Ebay won’t let me sell anything for over $1000 as I have never sold anything with them before. :frowning:

Oh sorry I didnt know that they have these rules… My husband loves ebay and uses it all the time…

I sold through highendusedsaddles and Marylandtackexchange, bought from Marylandtackexchange and Middleburg Tack Exchange. Good experiences with all. Maryland tack exchange will buy the saddle outright and is much faster as a transaction, you might get a little more from highendusedsaddles.

I posted everywhere I possibly could. Was going to do kijiji if I had no hits.

Also asked friends to share it on their facebook timelines.

Also on Facebook try:

And I don’t know if Eventing Horses for Sale on there lets you list tack.
