The worrisome part is…where are you tossing those poos when you’re done? Human excrement is a bit different from dog, horse or cat when one comes upon it on a trail. [/QUOTE]
The “wag bags” contain a powder which instantly turns waste into an odorless gel. From the web site:
•Uses odor neutralizers, not perfumes, to eliminate unpleasant odors; decay catalyst initiates decomposition
•Environmentally friendly, landfill-approved WAG BAG waste bags can be disposed of in trash with regular garbage
•Permitted by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management for use on rivers and in Wilderness Areas where toilets are required
•Recommended by the Leave No Trace program in conjunction with the National Forest Service
It is really no different than a living quarters toilet or a porta potty except you don’t have to empty a black water tank. If you think sitting on a potty in the back of a horse trailer is gross, try emptying a black water tank…ewwww.
And I don’t carry my poo around in my trailer - it is disposed of quickly. And at the risk of providing too much information, I have never had to poo while on the trail. Usually don’t have to go potty at all but then we don’t generally ride for more than four hours or so. I can go that long even at my advanced age.
Going potty outside at the campgroud??? I would have to be a lone camper to do that. Even public areas with campsites placed far apart do not afford that kind of privacy.
Using the portable toilet in the back of my trailer is 100x better than going to the public restroom.
Just my opinion.
