We are building our entire barn and fencing in the next month(ish). The fencing company will be installing gates that I provide, because they don’t carry what I want (powder coated green).
I used Priefert gates at my last farm, but the Priefert dealer here said they won’t place an order until they need more inventory themselves, so it could be 2-3 months before they arrive.
Any other suggestions of gate brands that are quality? I like the wire filled bottom ones.
not all powder coating is the same, you need to know what mil of coating has been applied … just saying “powdered coated” most think it all the same, it isn’t
What area are you in? I bought my gates as well for my project this summer. Shipping is crazy so my region limited my options considerably. I used a Keystone Fence product which I am very happy with. Powder coated black, wire mesh, spring loaded hinge. They are in Schaefferstown PA.
IME, the best gates I can get are locally fabricated. Shipping quality gates is expensive because they are heavy. The farm store gates are a lighter gauge than what the local shops can make.
You can get anything metal powder coated locally after your purchase also.
From hard experience, I’ve learned to love properly galvanized gates over the painted ones, which IME tend to rust under the paint. Some of the farm store ones may say “powder coated” but they wear more like painted. None of the colored farm store gates have held up terribly well for me. They’re all still in use, but they don’t look as sharp as they did when new, and some are dented.
