Best quality broom for sweeping matted stalls?

I am tired of cheap brooms with thin metal handles that bend if you look at them wrong. As soon as they get a tiny dent, they’re compromised and will bend/break in that spot.

Does anyone have a source for industrial strength angle brooms for sweeping out rubber-matted stalls/shelters? Probably with wooden handles.

(I have push-broom, but the mats in the shelter are not perfectly flat. I need something smaller to do a good job, other suggestions welcome.)

If I find them, I’m happy to buy a case of 6 or 12 and store them!

I’ve always liked the Black Eagle type brooms. They are a corn broom with black handles and bristles, and pretty heavy duty. The tack and feed store I worked at stocked them, but I don’t know if I’ve seen them at a non-horsey shop.

look for warehouse brooms at your local hardware or building supply store

Yes. These are the only way to fly. You can’t get them everywhere (WHY?).

If you can deal with shipping and will order them in bulk, The Farm House in Landrum, SC has 'em. Vicki will pack you up a passel of 'em. And it wouldn’t be the first time she has exported brooms.

ETA: Why do I know this obscure fact, you ask?

Because I live in Oregon where no one seems to have heard of these brooms. So when I saw 'em while traveling, I remarked on it. Apparently, a set gets shipped from SC to NH each year.

Honest to God, you might have to ship a broom. Can you believe it?

Thanks! I sent a note to my local feed store to see if she can get them without the insane shipping prices I’m seeing online.

AND… I happen to be headed to Aiken soon, so I’ll keep an eye out for them there!

I prefer an angled broom that I can easily get into corners, sweep narrow edges, etc. This is the one I like:

I’m on my third one - I’ve gotten years out of each; when one finally can’t stand up to barn use, I downgrade it to an house porch broom.

I’ve been on the lookout for a good corn broom. Why are they so hard to find?? The synthetic household ones just don’t have the oomph to move manure.

I can’t use a push broom in the cow barn unless I want to doubled over with back pain. They get too heavy with shit for my back to comfortably lift repeatedly. I have gone through every broom one could imagine. A few have lasted a year of getting used once a day. Most break long before that because they are just not designed to deal with heavy loads.

I’ve been using the above broom (or similar, can’t remember the brand name but available at Home Hardware for fellow Canucks) for about 3 months now and it looks and acts like it’s still new. It’s not heavy at all. I’m going to bet that this is one of the ones that will last longer than a year. I feel like getting a few more so I have a stockpile of them lol

That garden broom looks very interesting!

Second for corn broom!

that garden broom looks like my daily driver…

all kidding aside, Dover sells the bamboo broom (that’s similar to the garden broom) and lots of people swear by it. It’s not for heavy loads; it’s for getting that perfect, pristine sweep of a cobbled/brick barn aisle.

beowulf, haha. When I first got it, I posted a picture saying that I was all set if my car ever broke down at work.

I’ve always loved the Lion’s Club brooms. They seem to hold up the best of any broom I’ve tried.
