Best race call ever

You cannot say “Sofacanfast” in any way that doesn’t sound bad unless you say it glacially slowly.)/quote]

I am definitely not a morning person, but this is ridiculous! I said it and said it… and could not figure out what was so bad about it… sigh… I finally got it!! duh!!

I had to share that one at work earlier this week.

I also found this clip- although obviously meant as a joke- it’s pretty funny anyway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD1wUW99ECM&feature=fvw

Don’t forget

Cunning Stunt

…or the Jockey Club brain farts:

York Hunt

Wrecked Em

And in the best Quarter Horse naming tradition: Imabadannouncer!

This was a good one, too. Tom Durkin obviously had a blast with it.

I’m sure Tom Durkin enjoyed it. But Larry Collmus(sp?) actually made the call, since it was at Monmouth.

It was funny, but the best race call ever was actually the 3 calls in the 1978 triple crown races.

ALtho the one with Zenyatta was great too. I think last year’s breeder’s cup? Whichever one where she was so far behind, and the announcer said it would be a miracle if she won. And she did.

horselips is talking about the video she linked to, which is one of Durkin’s calls involving the (in)famously named “Arrrrr.”

Here’s another:

For anyone who hasn’t heard, Arrrrr is now retired and known as “Captain Morgan”, and has his own blog, “Arrrrr Journey.”

The "Arrggh"one?
Monmouth? Really?!? Then why does it say Saratoga, Race #2, 7-28-01 on the video clip?

A rematch was slated for today (sunday Sep 12th) alas it didn’t happen with the poor weather conditions: both horses were scratched from the 8th race at Monmouth.
