Wondering the best products for walking the dog at night? We now live in a neighborhood that does not have sidewalks but does have a large grass shoulder and limited street lights. We have a Rottweiler so needless to say its hard to see us once it gets dark. Any suggestions on leashes, collars, or vests to wear as its getting darker sooner.

I prefer reflective vests for myself & my dog instead of leashes or collars. I think vests are better at letting the drivers see where the obstacles are actually located. I wear a reflective running jacket (Brooks) and my dog wears a cheap reflective vest from Amazon.
That said, I would never trust that any driver will see me, especially at night. As a driver, I hate when people just clip one of those flashing lights to themselves or the dog. It’s both distracting & unhelpful when trying to navigate around them.
I responded on the above thread, but will again. I run in the dark and this collar and leash are VERY reflective! Nice and thick, too! Thumbs up from me!

I like the Bright Steps Reflective Leg Bands for Dogs. They come in three sizes, and are under $10. They work well and if headlights shine on them all 4 of them shine brightly to show it is an animal (easier to see than a reflective collar)
I also spray tick repellent on them and use them during the day when I take the dogs for walks in the woods. It is better than spraying tick repellent directly on the dog, as I can take them off as soon as we are done walking. Ticks try to walk up the dogs’ legs, and then drop off in most cases. I wish they were a bit longer for the ticks (more like compression leg sleeves for people), but they are easy to slip on this way.

Our dog has this collar and it is very reflective. Havent seen it directly with headlights but definitely very bright when looking for her in the dark with a flashlight.
