Best resources for young horse training

Basically what the title says, but what are your favorite resources for young horse training? Articles, books, videos of clinics, etc. I have a coming four year old (will be 4 in april), but it seems like much of what I’ve found is geared a little more twd 5-6 year olds. TIA!

As a disclaimer, this isn’t my first young horse, and I’m working very closely with an experienced trainer I trust and respect, but her belief is that I should do my own research as well, not just blindly follow what she says (and I agree).

For breaking and starting:
Subscribe to Warwick Schiller’s online site. So much good info!
Also anything from Clinton anderson for colt starting work. All my young horses know basic ground work for control and the one rein stop. Anderson’s books have good training progression for starting.

For basic dressage training:
Jane Savoie’s Happy Horse DVD series changed my life.

Good training book: Principles of riding. I forget who wrote it but its the German training manual.

“Training the Young Horse” by Anthony Crossley. He gives careful reasons for each of his progressions.

The new book by Francois Lemaire de Ruffieu, “Divide and Conquer Book 1: Fundamental Dressage Techniques

Old video: Starting the Young Horse.

The end.

Ingrid Klimke has a nice set of training 4-5-6 year old. I have all of them but I come back to the 4 and 5 year old one every year as a reminder. Really well done.

I like the following books and also agree with the TTouch “Starting the Young Horse”. Great video.
