Best riding gloves

That is odd. I also only ride one horse. I ride maybe five days a week. But I have purchased so many pairs, and none of them have held up longer than one year. I would say by the six month mark is when the palm side starts to peel in by one yr it’s significant.

Update: gloves are nice for $30, but do not have the tacky palm that the Neumann ones had.

I gave up on riding gloves and use baseball batters gloves. Neumann makes them ( tackified and not) and you can usually find them at Big 5 etc. I found they wear like iron and fit my finger ( length) better and were priced much less for what is the same glove

recently I got a golfers glove ( fingerless) for my bow hand and I really like the feeling and fit of that as well. Very thin

Bow hand?

I received a pair of Heritage gloves as a Christmas present last year; they already have a little hole, after a year of modest use. They fit my small hands well, but I won’t get another pair.

The hand the bow rests in. The bow is not gripped it rests. Sometime the grip can get a little slippery . I am transitioning to a new grip which changed my hand position. The glove helps stabilize for now

I was just going to suggest Uvex. I have the Ventraxion and have loved them. I need a new pair. But looking now at prices, they’re up to the mid-$40 range now. But I do like them. They’re one of the few gloves that fit me well.

This is the Uvex site, but you can buy them at tack stores online or even Amazon.

I haven’t had mine long now, but I love my SSG gloves so far! I anticipate they will last quite awhile as they seem well made and durable.

On the low end, Harbor Freight sells some great gloves for $6 that I wear when driving. I have a pair of Roeckels that I use at shows, but for every day I wear the cheap ones. The only problem I’ve had is that my trainer stole my pair and stretched them out. They are also surprisingly warm in the winter.

I got some SSG hybrids upon the advice from a Quail Hollow employee and I LOVE them. I’ve since purchased two more pairs. I wear them for everyday riding, fox hunting as well as showing hunters and they are exceeding my expectations. Definitely more comfortable and longer lasting than any Roeckls I’ve ever had. I used to hate SSG, but am loving the hybrids.

I really really like the correct connect gloves.

My mare is super strong and jumps very high and lands very far away from jumps, it’s very hard for me to hold onto my reins with her. I had the nylon grippy reins and they’re nice until she gets sweaty. I tried the correct connect reins and I love flatting and jumping low in them but anything at 1.20 or up and I get very scared because the reins pull me forward and I feel like I can’t slip them quickly if I need to. I know that Aaron Vale shows in the GPs with them but lol I’m not Aaron Vale :joy:

The correct connect gloves have been a real game changer for me though and the girls working at the tack shop I went to at WEC really talked them up a lot too. Highly recommend.

Tangentially directed question- for those older among us with gnarled up hands and fingers that don’t straighten out - any glove advice?

I was just reading about the Correct Connect gloves. They sound ideal for arthritic hands. Note I do not own a pair.

I am really wanting to get these! Did you find them larger than normal gloves? It seems to say to size up. Did you wear the same size in these as in Roeckls and similar popular gloves?

I like Röckl the most. Most of us in germany use them.

Absolutely love the Correct Connect gloves. I have the oil tac compression and they do run small. The winter gloves seem to be roomier than the regular gloves. I haven’t used the silicone grip but a friend has them and loves them. Ive had my first pair about a year now and they wear super well. Probably 5 rides a week and zero wear in the fingers tho the leather has ripped away from the elastic at the wrist. I just got a winter pair of oil tac and so far so good!

Mac Wet gloves for me

I hope you like them! I think they’re true to size, I have small hands and wear a 6 in the Correct Connects. I cut the tag out of my Roeckls so I’m not sure exactly what size those are for a comparison, sorry.

Has anyone tried the Deco Pony gloves they carry?

I have the EQUEST Pro Leather and I found them pretty claustrophobic. I imagine they would break in eventually but I didn’t like them enough to try. They fit TTS, so it wasn’t that they were too small. Good quality, so perhaps one with some stretch sections would work.

They only open their shop sporadically, but if you can find Sweet Iron Co gloves, they are fantastic. Durable, easy to wash, never get slippery, touch screen compatible, and look nice. I use them for both showing and training. Even in a torrential rain, they stay sticky, as good as my MacWet, and wear better than any glove I’ve had.
