Best Safety stirrups for a lesson saddle?

I am looking to upgrade the stirrups on my lesson horse. Currently has the old style safety stirrups (peacock), but wanting to upgrade. Hoping there is something less expensive than the Acavallo’s I use, but those are the type I am considering. I thought someone posted a link to a new kind recently, but I couldn’t find it.

What is wrong with the peacocks? They have a long history of working well, especially for schooling/lessons. As a further bonus, they are currently “out of style” according to the marketing geniuses, which makes them affordable.

Lots of accidents caused by them. They tend to get caught on things… I’ve heard of a few really, really bad accidents caused by them.

I use the cages. You do not need special stirrups. They fit onto standard stirrups. It is impossible to put your foot through, so it does not matter if your students don’t have boots.

I really like my Tech Venice Sloped safety irons, but they cost more than you want to pay.

If I was wealthy I’d buy the barn I take lessons at the child sized Tech Venice Sloped safety irons, they are a little bit cheaper than the adult ones but they are still quite expensive.

I did use the old style Peacocks for a while but after a few years the foot bed of the stirrup started sloping to the outside destroying the security of my whole leg and throwing me off balance.

I was relieved to find the Tech Venice safety stirrups, they are comfortable on my feet, I feel safe in them, the cheese-grater foot pad helps me keep my stirrup in the right position under my foot, and I can basically forget about the stirrups because they do not cause me any problems. Because they are safety stirrups I no longer fear my foot getting hung up in them the next time I fall off (I hope I don’t fall off again, but we all know how that goes!)

@Jackie Cochran I do like those, but not sure they are that much better than the Acavallo’s to explain the price.

@NancyM nothing wrong with the peacocks, but I was looking for something with more grip, and thought an upgrade was in order. I really like my Acavallos.
