Best sites to find foals by a certain stallion?

Hi all -

I’m looking to get a list of foals by certain stallions. What are the best sites to look up these reports? Brisnet, Equineline, Pedigree Query? Or somewhere else?? I don’t mind paying for them - I just want to make sure the data is accurate.

Thanks :).

Brisnet offers a few different options here: http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/gen_static.cgi?page=gen_preinquiry under Stallion Progeny Reports. Probably your best bet and will be accurate. Pedigree Query data is user entered and may not be accurate or complete.

I’ve bought multiple progeny reports from Equineline, as I find navigating their site easier than brisnet. They’re $18 and easy to follow. I would be happy to share the reports I have, if the stallions you’re interested in are the same as the ones I was interested in

If you’re looking to purchase, you can drop the name of the horse name or dam and YOB into equineline’s free 5x pedigree and get the breeder and state. Then it’s just googling to find. I contacted a few people totally out of the blue to ask about their horses and they were always willing to speak with me, if a little surprised I knew about a horse they’d bred.

Thank you :)! I’m actually looking for info on a deceased stallion who was born many years ago so using these two sites will help a ton!

Thanks again!

If I wanted to make sure I had accurate information, I’d trust equineline before any other site. They are run by the Jockey Club and use their database. For pedigree info, you can’t get much more accurate than that;)

You can get some info off pedigreequery.com for free. It’s not guaranteed to be as accurate as Equineline, but I haven’t noticed too many awful errors (some duplicate horses, and some unnamed horses missing). Search for your stallion on pedigreequery.com, then select “Progeny” report from the drop down menu. You can sort them by name, sex, earnings, DOB, etc. Very useful…and free!

PQ can be useful but you have to be very aware of its limitation accuracy-wise. We’ve had several mares who were apparently targeted by fantasy stable makers. The mares have had numerous fictional offspring–complete with sires, birthdates, and names–added to their produce records. Occasionally two or even three foals will be listed for the same year.

Every so often I check our horses that are listed there and clean things up if needed, but I know that just in my own relatively small sample size there have been lots of inaccuracies sitting there.

Pedigree Query isn’t guaranteed to be accurate AT ALL. And, as someone who has purchased the produce reports and then gone in and added the info to PQ…just take it for what it is–a nice place to start. Get data verified with equineline.

Is a lovely place to view and sort data, but unless you have personally verified it’s accuracy, do not assume it’s accurate.

That was the impression I always got from pedigree query - that it might not be reliable data but good to look up things to get started. Good to hear other people’s experiences.

tbhorsepedigree.com is much more accurate and monitored more closely than pedigreequery. Theres a lot of stallions and mares there with complete progeny listings, and will say so at the bottom of the progeny listing.
