Anyone have a preference? Going away to a horse show for a longer trailer ride and haven’t bought a pair in forever! Horse is smaller, so don’t need anything super long. Thanks!
My experience is that you (general) like what you like, and what you (also general) might not be the same was what I like.
For the quilts portion I prefer no bows. I do not like pillow wraps. I have friends who hate no bows and love pillows.
(just a random internet no bow)

I have had good luck with these standing wraps.

At the show, when I am doing poultice I like to use flannel wraps (but I am old, so that might be part of that like).

Whatever you get, use them heavily or knock them around in the washing machine before you set off. Nothing slips down like new wraps in a trailer.
Second breaking them in before shipping.
Wilkers pillow wraps https://www.sstack.com/wilkers-combo-quilted-leg-wraps-10-14/p/38918/?sku=38918%2012%20NV&glCountry=us
And flannels fastened with safety pins. I buy my flannel in bulk because the standard flannel wraps you can buy aren’t long enough to wrap from the top of the pillow wrap to the bottom and back to the top again. I get a 6 yard length and cut them myself so the wraps end up being 6 yards long x 6" wide for back legs and 4" wide for front legs. Although this isn’t where I bought my flannel, this site has it: https://www.fennells.com/bandage-flannel.html.
Wilkers combo quilts are my absolute favorites.
But I don’t wrap for shipping these days. I think it’s safer and cooler for the horse to just throw on a pair of bell boots and leave legs bare.
Wilkers can’t be beat!
I use Wilkers combo wraps at shows after big jump days. For the actual trailer ride out, though, I like quick wraps. I use these ones from premier equine: https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/premier-equine-stable-boot-wraps-9078
Such a time saver when you’re wrapping at 5 AM before hauling out. And they don’t slide down even with my old man who hates his hind legs wrapped and knows all the moves to get them off or down around his fetlocks.
Caveat: I don’t live in a super hot climate.
I absolutely never ship with bare legs. Maybe because I’m hauling youngins a lot, but even if I go down the road I’m throwing on brushing boots. You never know when someone is going to kick something or scramble getting on/off the trailer. Not worth the risk IMO. To each their own!
The equifit ones are the only ones my picky horse will wear. Have had them for a few years now and they are amazing! He wouldn’t wear wraps before them
I third the flannel wraps.
The best standing wraps are the ones you use all the time. I grew up wrapping with no bows and sometimes struggle with pillow wraps. I can do a really neat, wrinkle free wrap that will. not. budge… but only with the quilts and bandages that I like . Find a set you like and use them a lot for a while - break them in and get really comfortable with them. My favorite wraps are almost 17 years old .
For trailering though, I prefer shipping boots or quick wraps and bells. I’m very confident in my wraps and used to ship in them all the time, but after I had a horse cap a hock in the trailer I converted to full on shipping boots. If it’s super hot, brushing boots and bells on all 4 are the minimum, and I wouldn’t wrap if they’re likely to be hot in there anyway. I’m in the Deep South so hauling in the heat is unavoidable sometimes…
Definitely a matter of personal preference, but the Vac’s No Bows and standing bandages are my favorite. They do need a couple of washes to really break in but they hold up very well.
The majority of the time, I ship in Back on Track quick wraps and bell boots. If it’s too hot for the BOT boots, he usually goes without.
The Smartpak bamboo no bow wraps are my favorite. My horse’s legs do not get hot under them and they don’t slide. I use their standing wraps over them bc they aren’t as long as the other brands I tried (my guy is 16 hands and skinny TB legs). After I got the bamboo wraps all my others have been sitting unused.

I think it really depends on the horse when traveling–I had a mare who had strong opinions about wraps that were on longer than 3 or so hours. If we were hauling long distance, they came off because she would stop at nothing to get them off her hind legs. Right hazard to herself and others
My current guy does not seem to care one iota about wraps in transit as long as, heaven forbid, no shavings get stuck between the wrap and his leg…
The wilkers combos are my barn’s fav. Pro tip: do check out ebay/FB marketplace before buying new. You might get lucky and get a nice pair for half the price, as was my case.
Mine are fiber filled flannel wraps (I also use flannel bandages) from The Clothes Horse - won’t use anything else. They’re wonderful.
Can you share a link?
They look similar to the wilkers, do you think they are?
I find them very similar but I have to confess I have a set of 40-year-old Clothes Horse inners in the back of my car that go everywhere I go and you would have to fight me for them.
They’re much nicer than the Wilkers I have, which are foam lined and have poplin rather than flannel on the outside (I think at least back in teh day that Wilkers also made them with batting but have never seen them), which is nice in that they don’t collect shavings but not as nice for wrapping. The THCs wrap much smoother than my wilkers - never a struggle to avoid wrinkles, and just the right thickness. The only wraps that come close are an ancient pair of Romas with flannel on both sides and batting - they’re from the early 90s! LOL
