Best stirrup leathers

I got out my dressage saddle and realized I need new stirrup leathers. It’s been ages. Who has bought some semi-recently and can save me a bunch of research? Higher-end, leather, nice buckles that are easy to adjust, close hole spacing, long length. (I’ll go measure, I’m 5’5" but apparently most of it is in my femur and I remember buying long ones last time.)

I like the calfskin ones over a nylon core and have been very happy with Prestige and Antares. Both are (or were) available at SmartPak.

Also satisfied with my Prestige leathers.

Single layer, leather from Bates. Prestige also makes nice ones.

FYI - I bought the 57” ones for my dressage saddle, and have a 30” inseam.

They’re not leather, but I love my Wintec Webbers. Having no buckle under my thigh isn’t something I thought I would notice, but it makes a difference. They won’t stretch and they’re super lightweight to go with my composite stirrups.

Similar styles are made in leather as well.

I really like Bates leather webbers, but I’ve been riding some really wide horses and didn’t want anything extra under my leg! I like the one that have a nylon core and if you can find half holes–those are the best. Unfortunately the Bates leather webbers do not have half holes.

Total saddle fit flat.

I found some really nice leathers at Bit O’ Britain some years ago. . . they are somewhat narrow but high quality. I find I like half hole leathers. . . sometimes, I need to make smaller adjustments than the regular spaced holes allow. I tried webbers once and quite liked them except. . . they don’t come in half-hole styles.
Would synthetic Wintec leathers be hard on the saddle leather? The reason I aske is because I trail ride in an Aussie and I replaced the wide bar stirrups and wide leathers with Wintec synthetic leathers and regular fillis stirrups and it seemed to rub the finish off the saddle flaps.

I have my Webbers covered. My old leather stirrup leathers were very rough and scratched my saddle so I bought knee-high socks, cut off the foot, and sewed the tops like a sleeve to slip on. They’ve been on the Webbers since I bought them so I don’t know if they would rub or not.

For those of you who have the Prestige leathers, are they kind to your saddle? I just bought a new saddle and am looking for new leathers that won’t scuff it too much.

Yes. They are calfskin covered and will “play nice” with your saddle.

Yes. Very minimal marking on my Fairfax and Amerigo.

I love love my wintec synthetic leathers. No bulk under the leg. But I recently purchased a new saddle that has a lower stirrup bar than my current saddle. I recently purchased Kieffer half-hole leathers for that saddle that needs to be fit to my horse before I ride in it again.

Seriously, I I have ridden in Wintec leathers since forever but they do not work with the current saddle’s stipput bar placement.

You do know the wintecs come in various sizes ? So perhaps you just need a shorter size…

Could be. I have ancient old shorter size ones and I could test if the stirrup holes are offset from each other. It’s weird that a hole size make such a difference! But then again, this newer saddle throws my position out of whack so much because it really needs to be adjusted to my horse.

But I do now have this fancy set of Kieffer half-hole leathers…
