I’m looking for a new pair of tall boots—open to either field or dress, will probably go with field. In the past I have had ariats, which haven’t held up too well. I want a good quality boot, on the softer side, which will be durable. These boots will be broken in then saved for shows and clinics. For reference my ariats are size ten talls with regular calf’s. Not too keen on getting another pair of ariats based on past experience, but they do fit me pretty well. Any recommendations in this price range, off the rack or semi custom?
Ego 7’s. Sturdy, stylish, and they have a ton of different size options
I don’t know how well Ego 7’s will hold up but they are gorgeous. The leather seems reasonably thick, so I would expect them to last. I’ve decided that they will be my next tall boot purchase.
I used to be diehard Ariat… until they changed their patterns and sizing. Now nothing fits and they feel like garbage. I was persuaded to go back to Mountain Horse by a friend, specifically the Sovereign boots, and for $389 I am impressed. They fit like a glove right out the box, soft, comfortable, no break in, and they look elegant. I needed an everyday boot that would hold up but look nice at an affordable price. So far I am happy. I ordered the brown model for everyday riding/lessons/clinics, and the black for showing.
I love my Ego7s!!! They are very durable and required no break in time at all. They did not drop much at all (something to keep in mind). The only thing that has happened is my laces broke on one boot. Next time I will get the dressage style. IF these ever die, lol!
ETA: I wore the same size in the Ego 7s as I do in Ariat
I have the MH Sovereigns in brown, and while they are pretty I will not be buying them again. After less than 2 years of light to moderate use and being babied (never walked around in, kept clean in a lined boot bag with trees, taken off right after dismounting etc) they have a 2in (or more) split in the right boot. Maybe I’m a cheap a$$ but I can’t justify spending almost $400 on something that barely lasts a year and a half.
My next boots will be Ego 7s. I am planning on buying them from the link below - they are $340 including VAT which I am almost positive does not apply to US citizens so they will be even less.
