Best trail riding in Smokey Mountains?

Hello!

I am a dressage diva from the UK and my husband and I are travelling to the US in June. We were spending some time in the Smokey Mountains and I thought it would be nice to do some trail riding while we were there.

I have looked on google, but have found it difficult to work out that things I really want to know: - Namely how well the horses are treated. For example, I would love to find somewhere where they are healthy and not overworked with good trail leaders.

I am sure these places exist, but without my usual guides for quality (in this country we have BHS accreditation which usually implies a good basic level of care) I am a bit at sea. Given that many of them also seem to be marketed at people who have never seen a horse, I am finding it all a bit tricky.

Does anyone know the area and could you point me in a good direction? We are on a roadtrip, so the exact whereabouts are pretty flexible. Thanks!

Twin Valley Ranch near Towsend was a good experience for us

This looks great - and the cabin accommodation looks fun too! thanks! And we plan to go onto Nashville, which works well…

  1. You could also Google “guided horseback riding in the Smokies”. not only read between the lines of the websites but note their construction.

It is unlikely you would see ill-treated horses at a place that has taken the time to create an appealing website. They want repeat business:)

  1. Since you’re also coming to Nashville, will you be here the first week of June? If so, you will be privvy to the CMA Music Festival. Bring lots of money, lollol

  1. You probably won’t be in Tennessee in May but, just in case:)

The Iroquois Steeple Chase is May 14th:). Bring money for that too, lol

Have a wonderful time on your visit:)

I don’t know if there are livery places there, but friends who horsecamp a lot LOVE Big South Fork.
Okay, found this:
