Best way to clean boots?

I have a horse boot addiction and have about 6 sets for one horse. Unfortunately, it gets rather muddy here for 9 months out of the year, so as a result, I have to clean the boots pretty often. I usually do the woolite in a bucket and scrub, but it’s time consuming and a pain in the neck. Maybe some of you CoTHers have a better solution. Can they go in the washer on the gentle cycle and drip dry or is the bucket method best? Need some ideas, thanks

It really depends what they’re made of- I have some leather ones that I clean with saddle soap and some fabric ones that go in the washer.

Mine are either fabric or some other material, plastic or something. Think Eskadron, Dalmars, Nunn Finer American boots, etc. Can they go in the washer?

I think washers are different in the UK to the US? I’d put a set in a knotted pillow case/mesh bag and use a cool/gentle wash.

I wash my horse boots in the washer. No issues. Both neoprene style and dressage boot styles. Use a gentle detergent, no dryer and make sure Velcro tabs are closed. You don’t want them to get gunked up.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot

I wash mine in the washer and just set them out to dry. They come out beautiful. I use regular detergent (very little) and I too close the velcro.

Thanks everyone. I tried the washer on delicate and used woolite and set out to dry. They came out fabulous, much cleaner than I could get them in the bucket and scrub method.
